My daughter is coming home for a visit the end of July. We are meeting her in Charlevoix. I have never fished there this time of the year. Can anyone offer some clues? Do the fish go deep like St. Clair? Would drifting be a possibility? What general area would be a good starting point? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom

I was up there over the fourth of July week.  I did very well every day out there at all times of the day.  Caught a lot of 3 lb fish and a few over four.  Definatly was a nice week of fishing.  PM me and I will give you some places to try or atleast get a start at.

The south arm is like a flooded river channel. Drop offs along both shorelines .  The horth arm has big drops too but little structure.  Down by boyne city there are good feeding flats . Up in the town of charlovoix is a good spot for perch and eyes.    Out by the old manholke cover plant  is a good spot too . It's on the south shore of the north arm half way to boyne. My best days have come using big flashy spinnerbaits and chrome plated lipless cranks with red or crawdad colord wobble cranks.  Hope this helps. Have only been up there once this year  in the early summer.   Another lake nearby is Waloon . Its a big cold deep lake but has fantastic fishing if you cna find weedbeds on dropoffs and flat areas.

Man, I must suck cuz I spent 5 days over July 4th on the South Arm and managed one 4lber  .  I think I need to spend time on the other arm.
