Ok guys, I caught this fish on Saturday.  If you guess what it is, I will send you a prize.  If more than 1 person guesses correctly, I will do a random draw.  Prize will be some drop shot weights and tube heads.

Any guesses??  This fish hit in about 35' FOW and weighed about 12 lbs.  Good luck!!

I know what it is but it wouldn't be fair to tell. You might give them a clue where you caught it!!!! Along with a wrtie up about the fishing trip.

Cheetam

Looks like something from the perch family.  Golden?  White?  Silver?

That looks like a Mexican lake to me and that fish looks a little like a Tilapia. The only thing that makes me think it isn't is the lack of stripes and how icredibly obese it is.

Cheetam

Closest thing I can find is the Golden Perch...

Jeff

I would say that is the one. I do believe that Seth did say at the Iowa regionals that he was going to Australia and the landscape in the background also could definitley pass for Australia. I didn't even think about Australia. I was sure that he was on one of the famed Mexican Lakes. Nice job jcheetam I think you got it.

Cheetam

I thought Mexico at first, but that fish (especially the head) reminded me a little bit of a Nile Perch...didn't find anything on Mexican Perch, but did find the pic and info on the Golden perch in Australia/South Wales...

I was going to say that we need the Clean Water Act more than ever if THAT is happening to our fish!!! But then I realized you are right, it probably isn't Saginaw Bay...

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

DARN! I was going to saw it looked like the infamous spotted dorkfish, (small head, big body, slight overbite-feeds on corn dogs). That is definately a strange looking fish.

 :D :D

Only you Seth !! A golden Perch from the AU ?? Looks like you've got competition !!.. What do these hogs eat down there ? Positively overweight and gorging on something !!?

Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

SethV

Cheetam wins!  It is a Golden Perch.  I was on Eildon Lake, which is about 2 hours north of Melbourne Australia.  I will give a longer report when I get back from China, but what a cool experience it was!

I put a post on Fishweb (an aussie site similar to GLB) looking for anyone that might be able to take me out since I had a day to kill between Australia and China.  This great guy, Andy responded and took great care of me.  We had a blast.  It was so cool to fish with the sound of parots and cockatoo (sp??) in the distance.  The area north of Melbourne is very hilly and mostly rainforest.

Cheetam - I will PM ya to get you your prize!!   ;D
