I have a window of about a day to spend some $. I need a bowmount graph, I think for my Cat. I have Lowrance products and need to stay with them. I have an old GPS combo unit on my boat. Probably 6 years old or older.  Would I be better off with a console unit or should I put the new one on the front. Do I go with internal or external antenae. I have an external on the boat now. I also have a Minn Kota with a built in Lowrance puck and a Lowrance puck that's through the hull. I would like to spend around $600.

hey dan easier way just buy a new boat loaded. I am sure if you call shem he will put you in a new cat all decked out and ready.

If the new unit will be mounted flush inside some type of console I do NOT recommend a unit with an internal gps antenna.  I put one on the bow of my Triton that fits flush inside a small console and the gps reception was not acceptable.  If you mount the unit on the floor so it is completly exposed than the internal works pretty good.

I'm not sure if your old GPS antenna would be compatable with a new unit.

Where do you spend the most time on your boat Dan?  Drivers seat or bow?  I have my better unit at the bow since I honestly spend more time there than in the drivers seat.

As said, if built in go with the ext. antenae.  If gimbal mounting it the interanal should work fine.

Hey, I appreciate the help. Are you guys familiar enough with the specific models to know what Lowance unit would be the best one in the 500-600 price range?

Ask the 'guru' Slipkey on the Electronics Board below if you don't get any quick answers. He knows and sells them. Although, a lot of people seem to be celebrating something or other right about now? ;D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
