We took a trip up to Mullet and Burt this last weekend., fishing Friday afternoon through Sunday.

We hit Mullet on Friday afternoon.  Did a lot of looking and searching with electronics and settled on fishing the north end humps to start. From there we moved over to Long Pt and worked that over hard.  Called it a night with no bites. Hit a skunk on the way to the hotel in Indian River and thought, man that is not a good omen.

Decided to fish Mullet again and focused our efforts on the east side.  Our only Smallie of the day came south of Round Pt , top side of drop with weeds, 11 - 15 FOW.  Nice 4lber.  We also boated 1 walleye.  We ended up searching and fishing most of the lake, points, humps, etc.

We hit Burt on Sunday.  We started out on West side, marked lots of fish from top of drop out to 25 FOW.  Fished that side hard from 10 - 25 FOW.  Moved up to Colonial Pt, found lots of marks there as well, fished the same depths.  No Smallies on Sunday, 1 Walleye, 1 Muskie follow, and got bit off by a Pike at the boat.

Good time with a good buddy, good fishing, not a lot of catching.  I think we were right about the skunk omen....

Water temps were 68 - 69. Still pretty warm.  Definitely marked more fish on Burt.  Heard of a couple of tournaments on Burt of the weekend.  Heard a 20lb sack was leading after Saturday.  Anybody know of these events and if there are results posted anywhere?  Both walleye and fish in picture were released after the picture.

Tightlines.

Wags.

We had our classic the 17 and 18 and fishing was very tough out of 23 boats only 3 boats limited both days...

Our hog hunt on Burt/Mullet was also tough, 5.22 1st, 5.09 2nd and 4.17 3rd.  Everyone only caught a few fish.  It's been cold and raining since, so the water temps are dropping and I would think they'll be down to 65 or less by the weekend.

We had our club classic on Sat & Sun. We ended up with 20.3 on the first day for second place going into Sun. and first place had 20.8, third place had 18 something. On Sunday, the first place team had motor issues and DQed, we ended up with 7.5, and the third place team going into Sun got a 22 lb bag and ended up winning the classic. We ended up in 2nd place. Most teams fished Burt, however, one team that decided to go to Mullett on Sunday brought in a 18 lb sack. We got all of out fish shallow on Saturday, but on Sunday we didn't even see any fish shallow, although the 2 we did manage to catch we caught on a topwater and one on a swimbait in less than 3 feet of water. I know a friend of mine whose house we stayed at on Mullett had a great morning on Sunday & caught 4-5 on a spinnerbait in a few hours. It took 40 lbs to win our tourney, and I believe 40 lbs won the tourney the weekend of 9/17-18. Big fish for our tournament was 5.6.

Things should start picking up really soon now. It was 67-68 on an inland lake in Southern Michigan we fished in the Brighton area on Tuesday.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
