hey guys, went out on my lake again saturday with my daughter and son in law and it was rain strong and steady most of the morning-no lightning-and only got a sub legal lm bass. what do you do with 80 degree water and slight chop on the water? cranks or traps or spinner baits,if so what blades?..karol

If it is clear water where you fished I am very surprised to hear you only got one dink.  When it rains in the summer it's kind of like it's own little front and usually the bass turn on, so it's a good idea to cover a lot of water.

buzzbaits in the rain is fun!

I target shallow weed edges and shorelines that get stirred up by wind and wave action.  Shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, or topwater (buzzbait, popper, prop bait).  Spinner blade depends on water clarity, (willow in clear, colorado in stained/cloudy) but I can generally up-size my offering during a rain storm.

karol, the best day I ever had for easy fast quality bass on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits on Lake Templene was during a good, solid rain. The bass turned on and started slamming fast lures in the same mid-depth weeds we'd been fishing for several hours with few bites.

I usually speed things up and cover more water a little shallower for largemouth bass. Sometimes the same for smallies. Depends on the lake and time of year.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
