Has anyone been out to Halfmoon or any other lakes on the chain?  Has it been any good or worth the hour plus drive?  Are the docks even in the water still?  Any help is appreciated as always.

When I was there last Sunday the launch at Half Moon was closed. I had to drive over to Bruin Lake campground and launch there. It was not easy. The water level is down about 1 1/2' since Labor day. My Expedition was in the water up to the front doors. I had to climb out through the rear hatch to get in the boat and gently power it off the trailer. I barely made it through the channel out of Bruin.

Getting the boat back on the trailer was a pain as well. I had to tie up to the front of the dock because the water was so shallow. The wind was pushing the boat to the loading side of the dock so I had to push the boat out as far as I could, jump in the Expo, back the trailer in as far as I could till the boat was in the way again and repeat [twice] until the trailer was in deep enough to gently power load. The last time I had to climb out the passenger side window to the dock so as not to get wet.

I was there by myself, it would have been alot easier with another person there.

That being said I had a great day. Caught some nice bass and the weather was beautiful. I may head out there one more time before I winterize the boat.

By the way I am running a 19' BassCat, I don't think my Stratos 201 would have made it out of Bruin.

Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh maaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.... That's a "steamer"!  There's no way in heck I can manage that.  Thanks for the heads-up, I was just gonna drive over blind this morning, game changing plans in progress now. I was picturing a perfect day just me and the lake....

Do they drop the water there every year in the late fall? Or is this something out of the norm?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
