GLB Forum Users will receive a special deal on a PPXL 8' System (e-mail for details).
Available Through:

If you have never heard of the Power-Pole™ Shallow Water Anchoring System before don't feel bad. This is a totally new concept for the Bass Boat and Bass Fishing Industry.
The Power-Pole™ was initially developed for inshore saltwater fishing and at first was only available in a 6 foot model. Once the crew at JL Marine Systems built a longer deeper reaching 8 foot model (PPXL) Bass fishermen started to take notice realizing how much of a edge it would give them in this competitive sport.

Here are some pictures to familiarize you with the product.
PPXL (8' Model) Kit

This system gives you the ultimate edge when fishing rivers, sight fishing, ledge fishing (drop offs), under windy conditions and holds boat position when a fish is caught allowing you time to re-tie  or cull fish. Most important it is virtually silent! Mounts to your Jackplate (w/adapter).

Complete units start @ $1,094.50 for the 6' Model or $1,394.50 for the PPXL 8' Model. You (GreatLakesBass Forum Users) however, will get a special deal through Tournament Ready Tackle contact me for details.

I saw quite a few of them last year on boats. You could really tell who were the shallow water fishermen.
I drew one guy last year who used his lower unit to hold him down. After we had trolled out of the stump infested area, he had a hard time getting his motor to run right. My guess is that he had a little clogging problem.

Not a good idea, we both had good fish and a chance to win the TX. If we had been late, it would have cost me $4000.00 and him $6000.00.
Needless to say I was a wreck until we got back.

Those checks would have paid for a couple of them systems.

These things Rule!!!
Guys, you really owe it to yourselves to look into a Power-Pole. I have one on a flats boat and it is the best thing since the trolling motor. These were born out of needing a way to quietly and quickly stop a boat in  the gin-clear coastal waters of Florida and that is exactly what they do. When I got mine they did'nt have the xl (8 ft) model but the smaller one works fine for FL.
Imagine drifting 2 close to a bedded bass, what do you do? Hit the trolling motor and blow it, look away and hope they don't notice you? Push the button, the boat stops! I probably sound like I'm preaching but after my experiences of having one(flats boat) and then not(bass boat) I really miss it. It's nice to have someone selling them here in Michigan

I checked these out on Kevin Shorts boat at the BassCat owners tournament.  It was mount on an 1/4" Aluminum? plate sandwiched between the jackplate and the motor.  Just pushing on the upper portion of the power pole really made the bracket bend and the pole would shake for a while with just a small push.  How are these things secured to last on the great lakes?  Are there removable or quick disconnect mounts?

fowlmouth

The one I have is mounted directly to the transom, I don't remember them offering a bracket back then. I know a couple guys that have the brackets and haven't heard any complaints. We'll have to see what Tournament Ready says, there must be some specs somewhere on that.

djkimmel

There is a jackplate bracket. I don't know about taking them on and off. I'm sure TRT does.

It appears many of the pro's and flats anglers are using them so there must be something to it. Maybe we can find a testimonial or two, or some more information about toughness for our wonderful Great Lakes.

If there are no testamonials available, I would like to offer my boat as a test platform to TRT or the Power-Pole manufacturer.  Although I would expect my payment to be an 8' Power-Pole free of charge and I will not be held responsible for a broken bracket or the resultant powerpole fishing structure at the bottom of Saginaw Bay.

Please accept my offer at your earliest convenience!   ;D ;D ;D  But hurry 'cause the smally spawn season is coming and I want to get that thing installed ASAP!   ;D ;D ;D

DDBethke

 :D sorry I can't hand out Freebies...

I have the PP-XL (8ft) on my Triton, now I can't tell you how it handles on the Great Lakes yet because I installed it 2 months ago.

It is true it will shake a little, but I don't think the adapter plate could ever bend as it is very thick Stainless Steel.
This is what the bracket looks like, it mounts between the boat and the jack plate.

TRT - I saw a very cool commercial involving the pros using the Power-Pole on the tube the other day. Looked really good. I've added it to my future fishing tools wish list (future depending on fishing revenue and gas prices ;D). I would think a hardcore sight fisherman would really make this tool work for them. I've been looking at trolling motor noise and the effect on fish more... anything for an edge!

Dan,

It has put me on fish the wind would have kept me from getting and it has also helped me finish high in some larger tournaments this year.

More importantly,  I can tell you that it is extremly tough! I have been pounding it on the "big water" and have even accidently loaded up my 225 Opti with it deployed (not that I recommend it :-[) to find it un-phased.

We need to get you one sooner then later...

I think besides not getting to fish enough the past few seasons... I'm spending too much time out of my element ;D Water deeper than my knees!!! (Okay... I'm not that bad... although there's some guys who regularly do some serious damage in the real shallow stuff???)

Gang,

Fall is coming and now is a perfect time to get a Power-pole™ if you have been thinking about it!

I use my PPXL (8') a ton in the Fall and Spring seasons here in Michigan.

I also have 100% confidence in the ruggedness of the entire Power-pole™ system. I have been fishing alot this year on Erie/St.Clair. I even had an extreme case where my 225 Optimax transom bolts vibrated loose from a 150 mile (roundtrip) run and the PPXL system was unphased!

I have yet to tighten a bolt on the entire system (It has very little "sprung" weight as it is made from titanium and other premium grade composites).

Thanks for looking!

Ive got a Pro XL on my Stratos XL w/ 250 VMax.  I installed it myself in a day and a some muscle. I have it installed between my motor and jackplate using the adapter (1/2" powder coated stanless steel). Ill be more than willing to answer any questions you might have on installation/usage you may have.
Just a side note, first tournament using my powerpole, It helped me get a 4th place finish in a BFL on the chesapeake bay. This held me in postition w/o using the TM and spooking the fish in the heavy grass.

Has anyone used the Wave Pak? It is an attachment that allows the pole to keep in contact with the bottom in up to 3 ft waves.
