KVD will never win another Classic

Don't know if any of you listened live just before the Classic to the Bass Reporters. They did a show where Louie Stout predicted that KVD would never win another Classic. After being a bit dumbfounded by the statement, I listened as Louie explained his prediction. He felt that because of the huge crowds that follow Kevin,  he would never really be able to compete for a Classic again.  He said not only do a lot of boats follow him, but some stay and fish each of his spots after he leaves. That pretty much burns those areas for subsequent days.
In this year's Classic, Kevin had almost a perfect scenario with the spectators. Fishing back in Beeswax, people couldn't surround him. The fans pretty much lined up walling off the creek. None could come from the opposite direction so they didn't intrude too much. They actually may have helped him keep other anglers who wanted to fish that part of Beeswax out. When anglers came around and saw that wall of onlookers they went elsewhere choosing not to push through the throng.
Sunday night Kevin was on a San Diego radio station  KCBQ http://www.alloutdoorsradio.com  You could call in to the show, and so I did. I was lucky enough to be the first caller. I asked KVD about Stout's prediction. You can listen to his answer by going to the website and clicking on the archived show Feb 28 second hour.
What's your thoughts about a fourth Classic for KVD, the World's Greatest Fisherman.
"Not in the clamor of the crowded streets nor in the shouts and plaudits of the throng, but within oneself lies victory or defeat."

Ive seen before where the marshals come and move people away if they get too close to the competitors. If someone is a TRUE fan of bass fishing, they would stay away from the anglers, and away from their spots when they are done for the day. Those others should be dragged behind their boats.

interestering. dan ur famous! u were on the radio with kvd!!!!!!!!

I've heard this before and KVD has always had to deal with the crowds. KVD deals with these issues and continues to win despite these challenges.

One of his greatest strengths is his ability to adjust to the conditions and quickly react. If spectators start to impact the results of the tournaments, it wouldn't surprise me if they try to reduce that ability.

They already took one step by eliminating the co-angler. This allowed the pro to be able to make possible passes through their area without having another angler hit their spots with different lures.

My impression is he'll find a way to win. He'll have backup spots, he'll fish those spots better than anyone else and he'll continue to win.

he always finds a way to adjust, my prediction...5-6 classics its not over until he retires
"dont stop keep fishing"

Team houston

Maybe I am mistaken but aren't they going to the LA delta next year?  How many people will follow him 40,50,60 miles one way or more? Oh yeah, he has won there before.

Because of his outstanding ability to power fish at high speeds, I think it's possible for him to win more.  He finds several areas each tournament that could pan out if one gets burnt, but he stays on the move normally which keeps the traffic behind him.  Most spectators follow, not lead.

Live to fish, Fish to live.

TCook

KVD will win the classic again and likely more than one. He is the best ever and for good reason. KVD is a machine on the water and fishes for REACTION bites almost always and does it better than anyone on the planet. He is not out there throwing a jig or worm real slow and methodical he knows how to find the bass and make them bite when they wont for other anglers. Oh ya and anyone who doesn't think your equipment and preparation is important needs to start listening to that man!
FISH HARD!!!

Waterfoul

You don't keep the best bass fisherman in the world down by following him around.  I am confident he will win at least a couple more before he decides it's been long enough.
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

Duke

He'll beat Clunn's record in the next 5 years.
Duke

BryanP

He will win multiple more Classics and also break Roland Martin's AOY and total win records, no doubt about it.

Flippin222

He will win a few more before it is all said and done. Just look @ Kentucky Lake when people were running past spots and marking waypoints. I know it wasn't the Classic, but no one is better @ just putting there head down and going to work.

I believe his saying sums it up best..."worry about what you can control, forget the rest".

He had the same problem at the last state classic here in Michigan he fished many years ago. I was the only 'press' at that one taking pictures of the anglers on the water so I got to watch some of it happen and how Kevin handled it. It was the year before he went pro full time.

A local (and now defunct) club, embarrassingly from my own back yard, scheduled their 'huge' club classic the week after the federation on the same lake - Wixom Lake - so they could see 'where the big guns fished.'

Some took things to a stupid extreme by coming in on KVD on his hot spot including one complete idiot who circled KVD idling his big motor while looking at his graph to "see what Kevin was fishing." Like Kevin wasn't even there!!! He went completely around Kevin in a circle at the end of a point up shallow and off the drop only about 40 feet from KVD!?!

I would not believe the gall and crudeness of it if was not sitting there watching it with my own eyes!!

Kevin finally looked at me in frustration and said, "WHO ARE THESE GUYS!!?!?!!!?!!" To his credit, he went back to fishing immediately and I almost believe he willed the bass onto his lure because shortly after that on the same spot, he started putting some great bass into the boat! It literally looked like he made the bass do what he wanted them to do.

He went on to win that event solidly but you could tell even in his machine-like precision and concentration that some of this got to him. Now, that was a long time ago and before he even went pro so I imagine by now, he quite a bit better at shrugging off the twerps like he has continued to improve in all other areas.

I said something later to some of the people from that club, but nothing came of it as far as I know.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

There are idiots everywhere and bass fishing has its fair share. Too bad we can't convince them to fish the walleye circuit.

Think it's time for somebody to put the pipe down.  KVD is an animal on the water.  Proven time and again that a crowd will not stop him.  Just helps to line his pockets through sponsors after he wins.

Hooksetter

Crowds will never be a huge problem for KVD. He adjusts to the ever changing conditions, including spectators, faster and better than anyone else. That's why there's him, then everyone else.

If he continues to fish the Elite Series, or whatever they might morph into over the next 10 years or so, I think he will break every record there is for BASS. He's just that good.
