As many of you here that have kids, I'm surprised this subject hasnt come up more often. Some of you know the ordeal I have been going through trying to find quality rain/cold gear for Veronica. Nobody makes anything for kids. I figured I'd post my results and maybe save someone else some time. Here is what I got her. Cabellas Packlite rainy day parka, and pants, several fleeces to wear under this. A full set of Underarmor Cold Gear and a pair of Glacier Gloves. I believe this will keep her warm and dry in the spring and fall, and dry all year. If it doesnt, I'll repost.

P.S. When you see us at the shows, please dont say anything to her. Shes getting all of this in March for her birthday. Thanks

I don't know if you looked here yet, but try REI.com or moosejaw.com.  They usually carry pretty good stuff for kids and will stand behind any product you purchase from them.  The downfall is they have a lot of winter clothing now and not much spring.  But I did find a few rain jackets on sale as well as pants.  When I want my daughter to stay warm and dry, these are the first two stores I look at.

I did look at REI. Never heard of moosejaw, I'll have to check them out.

Your purchase sounds great. Gotta keep your lady comfortable!

For anyone else considering, I would put out a vote for anything from The North Face. Great stuff for women and children. My girlfriend fishes a lot with me in all sorts of weather and she loves her North Face gear. And lots of fun colors for women/kids too.
(and maybe even Dan when he's making a fashion statement!)

My fishing rain gear is by North Face and I stay dry in some terrible weather.  I swear by North Face for all my outdoor gear.

Mike, when the weather is bad enough to worry about how to keep her warm and dry, she can hang out with me.  I'll be somewhere inside, warm and dry.  Hate nasty weather.  Having said that, I have never needed of looked for kids clothing, so I'm no help, like usual.

Eric, the big one for us was the fall DK open in Muskegon. We drove across the state towing the boat to last about 2 hours on the water. We were both so miserable, we went home. What a waste. I vowed then, that we would both have warm/ dry clothing before next year. This tough little 9 yr old girl felt worse about leaving than I did.

Mike:

As far as rain gear goes, There are a few hunting clothing companies that make kid size rain gear, typically in some type of camo pattern.  Downside is goretex type membrane clothing is rather pricey that they outgrow rather quickly.   The good news is frog togs does make kid size stuff as well - I picked up a set at bass pro for around $30 jacket and pants.

Its the under clothes as mentioned before that make it comfortable.  Full synthetic long johns top and bottom, waterproof boots of some type, and a fleece jacket really go a long way to improving their comfort out there.  a fleece facemask also helps on those trips when it is cold.
