During the Bassmaster Classic coverage I remember hearing Aaron Martens saying he was using Lithium batteries in his boat, 4 of which only weighed about 110# total.  So I looked them up:

They are on sale so buy a bunch....only $1400. each!  :o

I picked up four and a spare, and I also bought some of Skeets new spinnerbaits for $14.99 a piece. I can stand to pass up bargains.  ;)

Must be nice to have big sponsors, huh?

Kind of limits the market a little. I would think they'd have to last about how many times longer per charge and maybe 15 years per set? I wonder if those are the only ones available? I sure haven't heard any talk about them. Wonder about the charging supplies needed.

I remember the last high end battery attempt that needed its own chargers and costs 2 to 3 times as much as a regular premium battery. Just can't recall the name...

Evertroll is the name you are thinking of.  I can't remember if they were nickel cadnium or lithium but they were very light as well.  I think they sold for $699.  I know they had problems with charging particularly with bad power supplies such as those found at motels/hotels.  With on board chargers like the stealth, weight is really the only benefit would be weight.  I can see it now... drop $4,200 on new batteries to save 200lbs then draw the 300lb+ co-angler.

Yeah. That was kind of my point. We can't remember the name anymore because it just didn't work out. They were some kind of nickel battery. They had problems with bad built-in chargers at first. Then they separated them and still faded out. I haven't seen one in a boat in quite a while.

I do wonder if the Lithium batteries have any other benefit besides weight? I also wonder if they are safer then the reputation other Lithium batteries have for fires?

Wouldn't matter for me personally. I'd have to win the lotto to be able to buy them.
