Dad and I took the Tadpole to the old Mona hole this morning.  Water temp was 52, and stayed at 52 the whole time we were there.  Fishing was slow.  Fish were scattered.  We just cruised the shoreline throwing cranks.  We each boated 6 keepers, a mix of small and largemouth bass.  The fish weren't nearly as active as they were on Muskegon yesterday.  Strikes were like snagging an old log, then it would swim away.  All fish were caught on the KVD 1.5 in chartreuse with a black back, and a Bomber Fat A in the baby bass with chartreuse belly color.  Every fish was caught on the edge of the first drop offs.  It was windy windy windy.

I did notice at the boat launch, there was a fellow GLB member on the lake.  Not sure who it is, green Tahoe and a Triton boat.

That was me Mike!!  I caught about 15 keepers today... more largies than smallies, though my biggest fish of the day was a smallie around 3 to 3 1/4 pounds.  I had "some" luck on the magnum shakey head.   ;D  Something new I'm trying this year... and it seems to be working!!

Think I saw you guys heading back towards the ramp at one point... two guys, small boat, small outboard...

Oh, and just who does the city of Muskegon Heights think they are?  Charging $10 to launch a boat at that ramp??  For $10 they could at least make sure the rest rooms are UNLOCKED.  One of the worst run cities I've ever seen... which I can say since I used to work there...

Yep, that was us.  The GLB sticker on your truck caught my attention immediately when we got to the ramp.  Mona can be an absolute riot most of the time.  Dad and I have a blast every time we fish it.  Just wish I would have had my boat.

As for the ramp,  it's new.  Hahahahaha!  I hate it.  The aluminum part of the dock is just way too high.  The bathrooms.  Ha, what a joke.  It looks real nice sitting there, with a fish cleaning station.  Being as you used to work there, you know exactly why they are locked up.  It's a shame that people trash everything.

The area you were fishing when we passed has always produced fish for us.  We usually don't hit Mona this early, but we had fun.  That little boat is like a feather in any wind.  Dad was not having fun with the tm today.

Dude... keep it quiet!!  Well kept secrets are jewels you need to protect!!  LOL!!!

You hear that guys?  It sucks.  The water is nasty.  The fish look funny.  The ramp is pricey.  Just go fish Macatawa or Muskegon instead.   ;D

Right.  But, there is a whole lot of water there.

MONA LAKE SUCKS!!!!  IT SHOULD BE DRAINED!!!!  DON'T GO THERE!!!!

Firefighter Jeff

You guys are too funny.  Mike WF, did you have to make another "Run" for the shore similar to White Lake,  since the bathrooms were locked???  LMBO

Hey Mikeszr  did ya hear me honk a couple weeks ago when I passed by your exit on 31 enroute to Ludington???  :)

Waterfoul

No Jeff.  Just an observation I made while there.   :D

You know, I kinda thought that sounded like the horn of your vehicle.  I knew it was you!!!

Firefighter Jeff
