I met Larry when I was pretty much still a kid wanting a small boat to get better at this bass fishing thing! I went to Giant's Enterprises to talk to Larry. He was a well-known top angler amongst the tournament elite in Michigan for a long time. In 1981, he beat out 256 other boats to win one of the biggest tournaments in Michigan - the Kunnan Classic - with almost 23 pounds!

The top angler on the west side of the state at the time was probably Herb Seidelman, the angler who basically brought flipping to the state of Michigan, and dominated the Grand River and other fisheries with this hot new technique. Herb finished 2nd with about 19 pounds so it was a convincing victory for Larry. He won $10,000 in cash and prizes which was big news in Michigan in 1981!

Larry Ingvartsen was one of the founders of one of the biggest and oldest bass clubs in Michigan - the Midstate Bass Busters and helped get it to have a branch affiliated with the BASS Federation (I was actually part of that club for a few years). He fished BCA back in the early days.

More recently, Larry fished NBAA, was active in the Grand bass club and a member of Pheasants Forever. He was an avid hunter.
