Hi Guys,

I was invited to a friend's cottage in Gaylord off of Otsego Lake this weekend, never fished it before, and he is not a fisherman --- avid hunter.  Anyhow, would like some hints where to fish (and lure selection) that will produce.  Weather calling for a cold front with rain, so it could be rough nonetheless.  I hear at one point this was an excellent bass lake, but with the introduction of tiger muskie, it created an imbalance.   I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.  Thanks for the time !

I have a cousin that caught a monster smallie last summer using a crawler and a bobber just floating around.  I doubt that tiger muskies do much harm. They dont reproduce and can be somewhat monitored.  If anything they eliminated the smaller fish.  And that usually makes the fish that are in the lake bigger.

If I had the chance. I would give it a shot.

Thanks for the reply, by chance can you recommend a good location to target bass?   I am only fishing Saturday with limited time, so any help is appreciated.  I was thinking to crank with shad Rapalas then slow it down with plastic worms........

Good day!

It would be hard for me not to throw a spinnerbait.  It would be a bonus if you could catch one of those Tigers! ;D

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.  I'm more concerned with the crazy weather heading our way today through the weekend, wind gusts of 40 mph may make things even more challenging.

Winds that high means you'll probably want to target the leeward shore. It would help if the boat ramp is protected. I would look for the edges of flats and points near the rougher water later in the day.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
