I am a greatlakesbass follower from muskegon, michigan and moved to Florence,AL to go to college well i got hooked up on the bass fishing team for University of North Alabama. Im fishing Lake Okeechobee for a tournament next month and would like to have some info on it never been there

Big lake! It seems to be changing practically every year lately. You most likely will be flipping craws and creatures with heavy weights into thick weeds in the NW / N or SW parts of the lake. Get some heavy tungsten bullet weights, some pegs and some streamlined creature baits.

Sometimes spinnerbaits can work outside in the deeper weeds. Even jerkbaits once in a while. There's some deeper channels here and there, the rim canal and some channels in some of the bigger islands. Watch out for gators.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Not to knock this site, but check out bassboatcentral.  They have a lot of followers from the South, might find a bit of info on what to do there.  Probably not much, secrets are hard to find, but some general info can guide your decisions.  Good luck.

Maybe I'll see you on a trail or two.  I'll be fishing for West Virginia University if I don't have any internship conflicts.  Good luck!
