I am looking high and low for an old Shimano Bantam 200 baitcaster.  I need a right hander.  My dad bought one brand new back in the day, whenever it was new.  It is his favorite reel.  He has fished with it so much in the 20 plus years that he has had it that the side cover is worn right through on it.  I would really like to find one for him.  He would really be happy to use that reel again.  If anyone here has one that they would be willing to part with, please let me know.

When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

Thanks Don. Unfortunately, those are all too new. I lost one today on eBay. Guy outbid me at the very last second. Hate it when that happens.

I have a couple of Bantam Speedmaster reels from the late 80s....I may have a regular Bantam laying around I will look when I get home....
Can you post a pic so we know exactly what you are looking for??

Team houston

If it is the bantam mag 250 I have a couple.

Team houston

I just looked, if it is the Bantam Mag Plus 250 right hand retrieve I have at least two.

Waterfoul

I've got several Mike.  Just how much are you willing to spend???  LOL!!!

I'll see if I have one I'm not using.  Oh, and check the for sale section of Bass Boat Central

This was one of the first Shimano's ever made. The first ones were the 100's, and then the 200. It was made in the late 70's, and into the early 80's. Have missed out on 3 of them on eBay this week.

Why dont you just bid higher on the next reel to pop up on ebay then? Not sure how familiar you are with ebay but what I would do is go to completed listings to see what the going price is on that reel. On the next one that comes up for sale dont make a single bid until the last 30 sec but bid $10 or so over what they have been going for.

Trust me, I have done that. It is crazy what people will pay for things. The last one I bid on was a parts reel. I was at 25.01 with a max bid of 35.01, at the very last second of the auction, it went to 36.01. That reel was a mess. There's another one on there now for $70. Don't know if I will pay that.

Kinda what I was thinking.  Best reel for the money on the market (I think the older Bantam Curado's are werhe it's at... love the ones I have.)

He has plenty of the nicer, more modern reels. He just has a soft spot in his heart for that old Shimano for some reason. That's why I'm looking for one.

Team houston

I can understand that. You should try a national board, there has got to be a bunch of those in basements and garages.

Thanks, Luke. Those aren't the animal I am looking for. You almost got me to bite by throwing in that vintage tube with an inch of line on it. They just wouldn't hold the sentimental value like getting the parts for dad's reel. And that is the only reason I am trying to get one.

I did put a .post up on BBC. Got a response real quick. He said he had to check, and it turned out to be the wrong reel.

There is one on eBay again, but it had a starting bid of 60 and a buy it now of 70. Now some dummy has it bid up to 66. I was really thinking about buying it. Thing is, dad said he only paid 64 for his brand new.

TCook

Mike my guess is that the people buying these reels are not for use but more of a collectors item or kinda the same reason you want it. So thats prolly why its selling in the $60-70 range. Your just going to have to pay the going rate if you want it.

I know it. I was really considering buying the one on eBay right now. Guess I drug my feet too long.
