I know it's still a ways off, but where will you be on April 29th??
... Just something to talk about while we're pining away waiting for the dreary, dark, cold, and wet winter to get over with.

As for me, I'll probably be at Pontiac Lake (like I do every year...don't ask me why) trying to catch some 12 inchers.? DOH!?
Actually we have an event on Cass shortly after the opener, so I'll actually probably break with tradition and be on Cass freezing my hind end off. ;D?

Where will you be?

I'll either be on Gun or Gull throwing a suspending jerkbait!...Can't wait for this early opener.....neither can my wife.  I think I'm already driving her nuts and its only January.

djkimmel

Right now, I'm thinking the cheaper the gas, the farther away I'll be... but there are couple of lakes in Barry County with some BIG ole largemouths who start calling to me every spring...

Gull can be fun too. I have still never been on Gun. I don't know why...

With the new rules for Catch and Release this coming Spring, I am planning on making my way out to St. Clair.  I also am considering Long Lake in Oakland County because it is a shallow lake that usually warms faster than others in the area.  St. Clair seems to be my number one choice.  I will probably spend a lot of the spring out there on the mile roads weather permitting of course....... ;D

Dartag, we just have a small club event on Cass.  We're not even sure of the date yet.  But I'll probably be on Cass getting ready for it.  I'll likely hit St. Clair as well, but it can get dicey in a hurry out there in April and early May.

Well - I unfortunately will have to miss this first CIR opener. :'(

I have already scheduled my week long trip to Arkansas for the BassCat owners appreciation tournament ;D.  The 29th will be the second(last) day of the tournament on beautiful Lake Norfork.  Considering I have been there the last two years and the temps are usually in the 70's, I'll be sure to be thinking about you guys trying to slip a jig into the mouth of a yawning bass and freezing your arses off!  Of course I will be joining you the next weekend - but I don't know where yet!

Havne't read the new regulations yet, going to wait for the fishing guide since I've heard a million different things.  That being said I'll be on Saginaw Bay weather permitting.  I always go out there and get some easy fish to warm myself up for the year.

MadWags

I'll be on St. Clair throwing a crankbait.

What's with the news these days on the TV and the radio. Can't find the truth amongst the lies. Some talking head that claims to live their life in a better way, says I have to compromise. But now there's something on the rise. Truth has opened up my eyes. There's no running from your dirty lies. You can't avoid the truth. I'll no longer close my eyes.

spinninbug

I will more than likely be on Hamlin seeing as that is my favorite lake, big surprise hey emeryj?  :)

Smbassman, I didn't know that's when the Basscat Owners Tournament was.  I haven't gotten anything about it.  I really wanted to fish it this year.  I'll go to their website and check it out.  I may end up down there as well then!  Glad you mentioned that.

Hopefully not cruising web boards... :D

More than likely Clair (now that its legal) or Kent.
Jeff

Grandbass

More than likley Webber Dam impoundment.  It usually fishes pretty good that time of year... I have heard through the grape vine;-)

dhuff

Man that all depends.  Probably either on Saginaw Bay with Matt or in one of my spots on the bay.  Or maybe on one of my favorite inland lakes for that time of the year..............

5alive

Hopefully, I will have already tagged out on a nice Michigan long-beard (turkey), and be floating around on Saginaw Bay. I wish the catch and release season would have included using barbless hooks. Anyways more time chasing after little green fish, I can't wait.

Probably Thompson or Kent. Both close and fishable.. I have two new tricks I need to practice. Both with plastic baits..

djkimmel

5alive - Originally thought about going for lures only - barbless hasn't caught on enough in this state yet to not have caused too much anxiety and it was anxious enough at times already. Seemed like several different options just lowered the odds with too many anglers - not good in a tough issue. Even some biologists were mixed on lures only or not, and barbless hooks or not. Usually came down more to personal choice and belief rather than scientific significance.

BUT - you can always start a trend. Someone has to. Heck - catch-and-release was an unpopular idea at one time... and look at it now. Has to start somewhere...

Matt - are you talking about the new bass season regulations? You know I have the actual fisheries order on it that was signed by the MDNR Director into regulation posted down below (along with the 'drop shot' order) under the Biology, Conservation, Legislation & Regulations board at: http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=46.0

You can read exactly what was signed into law for 2006-07 on both issues in that section. I got copies of the actual Fisheries Order from the MDNR Fisheries Chief (signatures and all).

Hey Dan if you are interested in Gun let me know.  I live 10 minutes from there and know the lake fairly well.  I can show you around or can e-mail you where the smallies hang out.  for all the help you have given me over the years it's the least I can do.
