Got out today and on first cast hooked into a fish, got it to he boat and right when I reached down to grab it it flopped and buried one of the hooks of a crank in my thumb to the bone.  It was obvious I was not getting it out myself.  I knew Jeff was on the water so I called him.  He gave me his position.  I ran over and he did the fishing line trick and it popped right out.  I cannot believe how painless it was.

Thanks again Jeff.  Oh and sorry about all the blood on your boat.

Firefighter Jeff

More than happy to help you out Brad. Quite the coincidence that it happened two days in a row. Works pretty darn good doesn't it?? Only problem with that technique is it's hard to do it yourself.  Blood cleaned up just fine !!  LololoL Be careful tomorrow. Just call if you need me again.   :)

So now you're a paramedic too?  Sheesh!!   ;D

Can you stick the hook back in your finger so we can get a Video lesson from Jeff on how to remove a hook using the string method...???  ;D
Dan can pin it over on the Video Room.... ;)

Eeeewwww. I have to post warnings on those kinds of videos!

Then I have to have a disclaimer for 'folks don't try this at home, this was done on a closed track by a trained professional.'

Then I think I have to put up a label that says 'warning this video may cause post traumatic stress disorder (and lead poisoning)' for residents of California. I might even have to put up a French translation version for certain residents of Canada to meet dual language requirements?

Then... I think have to put up a positive affirmation intermediate page that people have to click to show that they have stated they are the age of majority in their state, province, country, island and possibly hamlet before they are allowed to view the video... I might have collect a credit card number at that point as a double-blind safety check that they are an adult (or at least know how to get a valid credit card number from someone).

Possibly more...

So, maybe we shouldn't do this??

I also might have to collect sales tax from residents of New York? I'm still checking on that.

Maybe we could just skip the video?

yea, let's just go fishing :D

That could lead to another episode of hooking an index finger with a hook.  We could get the video anyway.

Might have another show idea, "Got hooked, Don't Look"

I like it!!!  Maybe DK could be the host.  His first special guest on the show could be Baybass.

Unfortunately your special guest has a scheduling conflict. Seems the Saginaw Bay is getting going.  Although I am sure it will be tough to find another person as stupid as I to impale himself with a trap...

Skulley

Oh no Baybass......you're not the only one. I've been there done that more than a few times.

Yeah. Fishing safety tip - don't hang your large muskie bait over the side of the boat. Because when you beach your boat, you might grab the edge of your boat to pull it up a little more onto the sand, impaling your palm with a large, 3X treble hook. That leaves a scar to remind you not to do it again if you try it once!

You guys are too funny  !!!!!   Ummmmm Baybass Brad.... you're not the only one.  Tritontr20 did it the day before with the same bait !!!!  The fish had flopped down to the floor when Bob slung it in.  Next thing I know he has it in his finger and the fish is trying to flop around.  I jumped down there and stood on the fish !!!  lololol  From there it was easy.
Actually I didn't jerk hard enough the first try.  I had no clue how easy or hard it would be to pull out.  Bob never flinched so it couldn't have been too bad.  Second try it popped out.  Shoot, he didn't even bleed.  Little antiseptic wipe and he was good to go.   :)
Once I had a 13inch bass flip out of my hand and towards my other arm that was holding my fishing rod.  It hooked the spook under my left forearm and was hanging there.  I was by myself.  Man, I had the deathgrip on that fish so he wouldn't wiggle.  I was able to get the fish unhooked.  I tried twice to use my hand to push the point back through the skin.  Couldn't do it.  it was like leather !!!!  I had to take needlenose pliers on the shank, press down with my thumb on the skin and torque it through then cut the barb.  Not very comfortable. Little antiseptic and I was back to fishing.  Did have to get a tetanus shot later.  :(
