So we got out today, the day after a small low and brief thunderstorm blew through the area.  It wouldn't really affect the fishing much would it?  Well to us it seemed to.  We did catch plenty of bass (30), but we had to fish much slower today to get them to bite.  Early on, we managed a couple on topwaters and crankbaits, but as the morning wore on and the sun started to shine, we had to slow things way down to keep the bite going.  Our best fish were still deeper than 13 FOW.  Once again rocks with scattered weeds was the key.

However, we did manage to find a good school of smallmouth on a shallow (5ft) rockpile with some scattered wood on it.  All in all there were around a dozen or so fish on it that we saw/caught.  The quality wasn't there though.

We made our way down toward the Detroit River to see if there were fish in some of the 9ft rockpiles I'm fond of, but no dice.  The water was extremely clear and we didn't see a fish.  There was a lot of current there.  So we headed back to our deeper spots.  Right off the bat, my friend nailed a 5lber.  Wow, nice fish.  Shortly after, I got a 3.5 largemouth and we had several smaller fish.

Over the past couple days, I don't think the fish have moved much.  But they were much harder to catch today.  Tubes fished very slowly were best.  I gotta give props again to the Xtreme Triple Threat tube.  That color just plain works.  Most of our better fish were on that and the Canadian Mist...both in 4".

One change today was we didn't see the baitfish like we did on Monday.  So I can't help but wonder if we would have went out a little more looking for bait, if we'd have found fish deeper.  The Mayflies aren't prevalent yet but we saw many.  The other interesting observation was large patches of very small bug husks atop the water.  This might account for the topwater bite this morning.  Of course we couldn't resist throwing topwater because it was dead calm for the first couple of hours this morning.  It was a great day to be out.

Best action was South of 9 Mile to about Morross.  Look for rocks in 13-15 FOW.  The weeds are coming up, but I didn't have much problem fishing cranks.  The only downer was another broken guide.  I need someone to do some guides on my rods.

After a slow spring, it seems like you're getting out a lot more now Tom.  Glad to hear it. A little jealous lol.

Revtro

Yeah!  It feels good to be out fishing.  I was hampered by the renovation of our new church that took months of working 7 days a week 12-14 hours a day to complete.  So I had a very slow Spring.  Now that the major portion of the work is done, I am making up for some lost time and much needed time off.  It's been a great couple of weeks fishing.   ;D ;D ;D

Good things come to those who work for it!

I've got to get some of those Triple Threat tubes!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Yeah you do!!!!  They do just plain work.  Got a lot of bigger fish on them as well as good ole Canadian Mist.  The real secret has been the S.W.A.G. tube jig I have been using.  Real sharp hooks and just how the bait falls on that jig head.

I should have seen you down by Morross, Rev.  I must have missed you.  There were some real good fish down there on Wednesday, May 30.  I caught a ton.  What a blast!!!  Saw more mayflies on Thursday and switched to the Mayfly tube from Extreme on a S.W.A.G. tube jig and slayed them.  What a great week of LSC fishing!!!

All I can say is.............

:o     WOW!!!     :o
