How much do you think this fish weighs - in your experience

3-4 lbs
4-5 lbs
5-6 lbs
7-8 lbs
8-9 lbs

Mojo

Your opinion on how much this fish weighs:

throw in a guess ...... and I'll let you guys know how much it was claimed and where it was caught at the end of September !!!!

Hard to tell. Her hands look twice the normal size so the fish looks larger also. I caught a 4 pounder this this year and I don't show the picture to anyone. My buddy took the pic on an angle and made the fish look about 12 pounds. Almost looks fake.

Manxfishing

For me
I allways guesss SM are larger then they really are
Plus I'd guess the girl doesn't go a duece like most of my fishing buddy's and her arms are out out there.
No better then 6 unless there's some really really good shoulders on that fish
It has the length,

Cheetam

I remember seeing this and the claimed weight.  I would take a look at the span of her fingers for an estimated length of the fish, and use that as a general indicator of what a fish that length could weigh.  Let's say she has a 4" span between her pinky and index finger.  That fish would be around 20-21".  Depending on the time of year that could be a 4 to 5+ pound fish.

Nice fish for sure. I'll say it's 5.8. She's definitely holding it way away from her body. I'm interested to see what the fish was claimed to weigh. Pics can be deceiving. I've caught 4 pounders that look like 6 or 2.5 depending on camera angle, lighting, etc. Nonetheless, great catch and I get fired up for every smallie I boat. I got 2 dink smallies last night and was more fired up for those fish than the 4 pike and 26" walleye I caught. Fun fish for sure, and we're all lucky to live in the best smallie state in the country.

BIGSHOW

Hard to tell. The mouth looks big. Pics can be deceiving

jjjmpv22

I would guess it is about 17" or 18" 3 to 4 lbs

Wow - you guys didnt even notice her belly button ring ? All you can look at --- is her fish !!

"Eyes are up here", she said !

Actually Cheetam thats about right, my wife had a 3.75 span, and if you do the math it worked out to 21 inches...... and thats about what I thought, a 5.25 - 6 lb max.

He said it was 9 lb and I didn't think so, but I said all the nice things one says when you see a big fish. I thought I'd ask y'all to confirm it with your opinion. If he said it was 5 or 6 we wouldn't have this conversation.

Anyway he was walleye fishing and had a perch colored jig, 1.2 mph....12 fow somewhere near the dumping grounds. No real answer to the poll so the first person to
PM me I'll send some of Kustom Kicker LSC jigs that have been working well   ;D

Well

The state record SM is 9.4 and 27 1/4" and that was set in 1906

There's a girl in the picture?!? Oh, yeah. I see her now. We are true die hard anglers.

It is darn near impossible to accurately guess bass weight from pictures.

You know what they say about how you can tell when a fisherman is lying...?!? It appears there will never be anyway to ever be sure when you can trust any angler... unless we are all there to witness the event at the same time together. Otherwise... let's just go fishing and catch our own bass that people may or may not believe it was THIS BIG!!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

nope - no girl or guy, just a fish. And I got fishes permission too ..... I had never seen a 9 lb smallie before, and thought this might be it.

I did catch a monster 27 in largemouth one year when I was younger in of all places a 10 acre pond. It was april and windy as heck and I was fishing a spinner bait with one pole and threw out a bobber and worm on the other. The wind kept taking the bobber to the left and catching on weeds. When I didnt see it I figured it was caught up. Thw when I reeled it in I was surprised to feel something pull. Thi.king it was a carp I played with it till I saw a greenish tint and nearly fell over. When I got it in me and my brother measured it and threw it back. I was so tempted to keep it. But I let it go to produce bigger ones. I also have a 7+lb fish I caught there I got mounted. Wish I had my smart phone 20 yrs ago with my camera

I havent been there in a few yrs. The bugs get terrible(mesquitos). Also you have to park off the side of the expressway(275). Ive never gotten a ticket,i jus never liked doing it. since I got another boat I havent been tempted.  Caught some good pike and crappie there to.

OK, I put the fish on CAD to scale from the fingers present and it is 21.25", nice belly and works out at 5.35lbs on the stretch scale.

I guess I have not been on here in awhile, the answer is above and CAD does not lie!

That's okay. My fishing todo list is already pretty big. Not sure I will get to all the great places to fish.

Can you still get in that 10 acre pond?!? ;D

That would be a great winter post - Short story on the biggest fish you caught in a pond. Or quarry or something.
