As long as your boat is rated for 220 pound redheads who bring too much tackle... maybe I can fish this with you? I have a 12v electric motor but no battery at home right now. Do you that covered?

Have a 55 pound thrust trolling motor, we'll be fine.  Have a 27 group battery too.  As long as you don't mind sitting in front, I'd be happy to have you in my little boat.  Carrying it will be fun...

Frank

I will be prepared to carry my boat if need be, though I have a trick that might make life a lot easier for all of us.

Mojo

ok Heres what I think we have so far for this Thursday:

Frank       -   Dinkfinder
Mojo        -   My buddy
Ypsibass   -   D Kimmel
Bigshow    -   His buddy

$40 per boat includes Big Bass - We were hoping for just 4 -5 boats max. for the inaugural and we got it !! We will work out the bugs of launch, trying to write your lengths in a canoe lol (Hey its a paper tournament soo bring a pencil)

Dan - can you bring copies of paper tournament sheets pweeease ?

OH - lessons learned - bring sealable bags for your cameras, phones etc. Bring stretchy cord and wrap your unused rods secure to the boat, keep your tackle bag to a minimum and I recommend 3 rods max......... Bring either of the following:

  • Orange Life jacket (as retro as you can get)
    ol mans fishing hats
    Flannel shirts / waders
    1 home made lure

I will be taking pictures of us after and then photoshop them black and white to make us look 1940's !!!!!  ;D

We pay out longest 5 fish, biggest fish, and I will put together a nice Kustom Kicker / Zipper Worm tackle pack to the biggest fish caught on a home made lure...... !!! Sound like fun ???

Also - Need 1 brave West Sider to meet with Mike and get him over here - he has a boat !!!! Need help  :o
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

I cant get the day off, is this lake (pond) open on other days or is this a one time deal.

If you can contact Frank or I- we can get you permission  8)
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

Frank

3 rods lol, I break that many.  I'm bringing 6, so is mike.  I'm really hoping one of us gets into one of the huge fish.  Last time I went there we managed a 5.75 is all.  Our average for the first 2 hours was about 4 pounds though.  I ruined that, I put on a huge mepps musky killer and proceeded to catch back to back ten inch fish with it, that is after not having anything under 3 pounds for 2 hours

BIGSHOW

Im still not totally sure about my freind. He hasn't returned my calls. He just started a new job. Thats the only hold up for me. I wish I had my own boat. Ill let you know when I find out

djkimmel

I will add paper tournament weigh in sheets to my todo list.

Maybe do some stretching exercises so we can get the boat to the lake!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

It has 2 handles on the back and 1 in front.  Might have to make two trips for boat and gear.  Will have to dig up my orange life jackets though...

Looks like I can't make it. Unless I can find someone with a boat last minute.

bigjc

I am bummed to say that there is not chance of me getting a day off this week, but that sounds like the fishing trip of the decade!

djkimmel

Going to rain all day anyway so you will be a dry at work and we will be wet fishing...

I really hate fishing in the rain. Really.

Five hours of fishing in the rain in a boat with no bilge pump. Crap.

Mike S.

Bilge pump with alligator clips will solve that problem. You already have a battery, so you're golden.

Hope you guys had a blast today, other than getting blasted by the rain. Can't wait to see pics.

Frank

Well...

We had some rough weather out there today and the cold front was not helpful.  We only caught 4 keepers and they were all around 15".  I was feeling pretty bad for making the guys come drag row boats out since I said this lake was loaded with hogs.  When we were done I got to see the picture of DK's 20" fish, that made me feel a lot better.  In this kind of weather with only 6 guys for 5 hours on a lake no one knows, pulling a 20" isnt too bad.  Mojo and Jack had 5 ranging fom 15.75 to 18.75.  Oh, we also caught a combined 62'873 pike mostly ranging from "lotsa teeth" to "lots and lots o' teeth" sizes.  I think we should do it again, though maybe a little earlier in the season.

Frank

Ypsi,

Yes, fishing in the rain sucks this time of year, but, when it's nicer out, the harder the rain the better the fishing.  I absolutley love rain and wind.  Also, i'm under the impression that you dont have a boat, if you also are able to fish days a lot during the week let me know, i go out a lot.
