sunline FC sniper flouro

I switched over from invizx to sniper for the most part last year. I purchased the bulk spools and found the top 2/3rds to be outstanding even slightly better than the invizx i used before. Unfortunately out of three bulk spools bought at different times throughout the year the bottom 1/3was crap and im not sure why but it would break tying knots, on hooksets, even casting heavier baits. Unless it was my fault somehow and somone can shed some light in this issue i will be going back to my trusty invizx.

How did you store it?  Many times line will become brittle from storage conditions.

My bulk spools go in ziploc bags in the back/bottom of the fridge.  Aaron Martens made a big deal out of proper storage of fluoro.  He even goes to the extreme of transporting his bulk in a cooler to control conditions.

I do like to make sure I stretch out new line a little when I respool.  Seems to cut down on coiling.

I'm still looking for a good fluoro at a good price.  Tried a bunch; using vicous right now.  Good, but not great other than price.  Not a bad line, just nothing great about it.

All my line is stored in two ziplock bags but i did not store in the fridge. I did the same withh 1000 yrd spools of invizx withought the issues i had with the bulk sniper. I like the fridge idea i will start doing that.

I've tried the Sniper in addition to several other FC lines over the years and I have to say I haven't seen much difference between the 4-5 I've used. I realize that there are many different lines to choose from & it mainly comes down to what we as fisherman are confident in using. That said, I am leaning towards only using braid & mono this year because I have yet to see any studies supporting FC's purported benefits nor have I seen a significant difference in my own fishing experience. A few years ago I read the reviews from a tackle website and was really surprised by the results. When compared to Trilene mono as a baseline, there didn't seem to be much difference between the FC & mono in regards to visibility or stretch. I told myself then that I wasn't going to spend the extra money on FC but did anyways because it's what I had always done for so many years. Unless I see an objective review that definitively shows FC being superior I am just fishing mono & braid this year and will see if my catch rates change much. If you google "fluorocarbon showdown" you can read the review. Maybe some of the newer FC's have improved since then. I'd be interested in reading about other member's experiences with FC lines that were not part of that review. Happy New Year!

I just don't like the stretch mono has compared to floro.  Long casts with mono don't produce the kind of hook set's I want.

And all the pro's will tell you they catch more fish on floro than mono, and that floro is more sensitive when fishing bottom contact lures (these are my own experiences as well).  Sure, mono has it's place, but not in my boat.

I agree with Waterfoul. Don't say the pro's are paid to say that either,  because all the companys that make floro make mono too. So if the mono worked better for them than floro they would use it.

i started with FC a long time ago, i had two crankbait rods set up one with FC and the other with mono and the difference was huge just feeling the different bottoms and being able to keep the bait at the tops of the weeds while using the FC was all i needed to switch to FC for all my cranking needs. Soon i was using it for jigs, creature baits and spinnerbaits. I still use mono for top water stuff but that's about it.

I wasn't looking to get anyone riled up, I just thought I'd explore some FC reviews and take a look at the FC showdown review from 5 yrs ago. I agree, a lot can change in 5 years but I also think there's a certain amount of untested claims regarding FC. I would love to see another review comparing some of the newer FC lines. Fishing is a lot about using what you're confident in & for me, I haven't seen much difference between FC/mono & catch rates. I'm sure many guys would say that they do, but I'd like to know if they've actually compared mono to FC regarding their own catch rates in a season. Then again, having just read Aaron Marten's article in Bassmaster mag reading drop shotting, I'm sure he'd have something to say. I can't believe I've actually given this topic any thought- you know it's winter!
