Alright Ladies & Gentlemen, Santa was good to me and left me almost $ 375.00 dollars in gift cards from BPS. The question I want to pose is who has the best rain wear, BPS or Cabelas. I hear guide wear is great stuff, but so is the 100 MPH stuff. I really don't want to be out there when it's raining, but if  yo gotta go, you gotta go.

dartag

i have BPS and love it.  wait till the spring classic it should be on sale.  i have fished with guys with the cabelas guide ware and they seem happy.  spend the money on the good stuff .  during the Chiller on Kent i was warm and dry all day.  snow, rain, wind what perfect day.

BPS 100mph is it...#1...enjoy.

I second that. My 100 mph suit is comfortable, keeps the rain out even when driving and is warm.

I have Guide Series rain wear from Gander Mtn. and so far it has been fine. I was going to buy the 100mph stuff from BPS but I didn't like the way the bibs fit.
Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

just make sure whatever u get is gore-tex. the others like dry-plus and others dont last as long.

dartag

BPS has them in Larger sizes also.  (  sorry Kev )  i owe ya a beer.

Save yourself some money and go with the frog toggs.  At $70 they are great, but you do need to buy a new set every year.  They look weird but they are waterproof.  I just wear my ski stuff underneath when it's cold and also have a summer rainsuit.

I just got a set of Frogg Toggs for Christmas.  Can't wait to try em out.
Can't wait to fish.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I'm not sure this is accurate information, but the guy at BPS told me that eventually they are phasing out the 100mph stuff for the new Pro Qualifier stuff.  This past season I bought the Pro Qualifier bibs and parka and I have to say they are awesome!  I have been in torrential downpours and never got a bit wet.  Plus, I don't know about the 100mph stuff, but the Pro Qualifier stuff is so warm that I fished in 40 degree weather with just a sweatshirt and jeans on underneath and was plenty warm.  The PQ stuff also has some features over the 100mph suit such as reinforced seams, taped seams and zippers, more compartments, lined pockets, reinforced knees and elbows, etc...   I can't say enough about this suit.  From what I've seen of the 100mph stuff that's a few years old, I'm guessing the PQ suit will hold up better over time... at least that's what I've heard from some 100mph owners.  It's embarrasing to say, but I slipped off my trailer in the rain and fell waist deep into the water this past fall.  I had the PQ suit on and didn't even get my socks wet.  Amazing.  Just my $.02

I have the cabelas guideware rainsuit, and its awesome.  ITs going on 10 yrs old now and the bibs are about wore out, but the parka is still going strong - now - let me quantify that with, the bibs have had an incredibly hard life from plowing snow all winter(in the winters we had snow), to sledding and skiing with the kids.  They are still waterproof, but the zippers/seams are finally biting it a bit.  I am sure they are greatly improved since 97.  In addition, you can choose between insulated and non-insulated models depending on the temps you plan on using it for.
I replaced the bibs with the BPS pro qualifier with my gift card last year, and I must agree with Revtro as well - they are also awesome so far.  Designed a little better in shape for comfort sitting down and standing up as opposed to the older guide series stuff.

Thanks fellow fishheads, I knew you guys knew what was the lowdown on rain gear. Man I hate to spend it all on one thing. $ 400.00 could last a couple of years, since I don't need any rods or reels. I'm staying away from Lucky craft too.  All I need is a couple of new wheels for the Astro. I've got a new Eagle 480, and a new Navionics East card. $400.00 for a rain suit. Jeez-O-Peet.

Looks like i have the only horror story for the BPS 100 MPH suit.  I always get wet in mine.  I think they sprayed it with GorTex on a Friday or something.  Or maybe i should go back and check the tag and make sure it doesnt say Gor Tek or something phoney like the Rolek watch my buddy bought off a pedler in Vegas.

The 100 MPH suit should be obsolete this year as stated before.  I have only seen them on sale once and that was a couple monthes back.  I dont think they have been on sale before that.  But they should have deals on them now since the Pro Qualifier suit is replacing them.

Other than my suit being leaky, the straps never stay on.  I always have to rethread them back into the buckles.  I would trade it for a turkey sandwich if i thought i could get that much for it.

I am pretty sure that the BPS and Cabelas suits are all made in the same place.  I could be wrong.  I think someone told me that  once.

Gander Mt Guide Series rain gear is stupendous.  And it is a little less expensive.

I wore a pair of frog toggs on LSC when it was pouring ( thanks Big E ) and they kept me dry all day.  They are a bit bulky and uncomfortable, but they will keep you dry.  They are pretty thin as well, looks like they would tear easy.  If you have to buy a new pair every year, even at $70 i wouldnt recommend them.  No one wants to dish out $70 every year for a new pair.

Just make sure you get something that is well built, breathable, gor tex, and in your price range.  And if you really want to save some cash, make me a turkey sandwich.  She is all yours.

I have to agree with McCarter, The GS rain gear is great, only prob is someone helped themselves to mine at end of last season.  Serves me right for leaving them on my boat, guess you can't trust people like ya use ta!
