Ok!! We need to spruce things up a little. Get something fun going.

What is your wildest adventure or blooper you ever had fun or tourney fishing?

My buddy and I were fishing a tourney with access to Lake Mich. So we went out to the peer head. Five footers were rolling right into the peer where we were fishing. I was in back and caught three smallies in three casts. Fourth cast I hooked up again. He got the boat turned side ways somehow. Mind you I didnt have my sea legs yet.  We hit the swell and out I went.I was totally submerged. Finally found the surface but the current had pulled me 15 ft. from the boat. I yelled come get me before I drown. Meanwhile the rod is in my hand still and pulling. He finally got to me and I handed him the rod, hit the bottom of a swell popped up in the boat.

He fought the fish to the boat. I got the net and landed a 3 pounder.

Everyone on both peers started yelling and clapping. My partner sat there and laughed for 5 mins before he started fishing again.

Long story short... It was funny at the time , but am very lucky to be alive

I'm pretty sure I've told this story on here last year, but for you newer guys, here goes.

I fish the ROI Thursday night bite with my buddy Brett. Last year he had just taken a new job on third shift. On nights we fished White he would have to flynout of there as soon as we got the boat on the trailer. No big deal. We used my boat on White, and I would put the fish in the bag and go weigh in.

I fill the bag with water and climb back in the boat. I get our five fish and I'm ready. I step over the side of the boat and miss the fender and fall to the concrete with my bag of fish. The bag blows apart and here I am flopping around in the water with my fish. It really sucked bad. In the end, our fish went back in the lake and I still get laughed at from time to time.

Mine was last May during the DK Open on St Clair.  I was fishing with my step-father and we were catching a few fish in Anchor Bay.  I picked up a square bill and on about the 3rd cast the rod just flew out of my hand.  The rod and reel landed in the drink and the bait ended up hooked my step-father's jacket.  I run to back of the boat unhook the bait and begin to gently pull in the line and my rod.  I get my rig back in the boat, shake my head thinking "WTF", I step down from the back deck and roll my ankle.  I hear a horrible "POP" sound and the pain is amazing!  I have to crawl to the front deck and sit down to keep from throwing up.  15 minutes later I composed myself, grad a butt seat for the front and go back to fishing.  I finished the day and fished all day the next.  It turns out I broke my foot and after 8 months of BS including surgery in November, I just got clearance from the doctor and I am finally wearing a real shoe again as of Tuesday.

I was fishing a Pontiac Lake tournament with another member who I wont name, though he may chime in and admit it.  To start the day we flew to the far side of the lake in my 15 foot aluminum boat to the bridge at m59.  i had went under many times with plenty of clearance so i was still going fairly fast.  the water was way up and i busted the trolling motor mount on the bridge.  We tried everything to get under there but got stuck in the middle.  He got down to boxers and jumped in to pull us out.  The water was much deeper than he expected and he went completely under.  after that mess, we taped the  motor to the boat so we could keep fishing.  later in the day we were back in the shallow flats and my friend hooked a dock.  no problem, he just jumped on the dock to get it.  the dock was old and no longer connected to the posts.  as soon as he jumped on the whole thing went 2 feet under water.  It was a great day

Mine may always be the one where I was at Tipsico fishing by myself. I got ready to leave and beached my boat. I had beached in the same spot many times. I walk up and get my truck. When I come back to the ramp, my boat is 30 feet out in the lake. There is not one single other truck in the lot. Nobody on the water. The water is too cold to swim out there. I called Frank. He was on his way from Waterford with his boat. I'm standing on shore watching my boat float around. Two guys drive to the launch and ask me if that's my boat. They had been watching it from shore for a while with binoculars to see if someone was in the boat and having trouble. Ended up, one of them took me out there in a canoe to get my boat. Saved Frank a long drive.

Two separate occasions I've ended up in the water.  First time, I was on north lake with a buddy of mine and I hooked a dock.  Get up on the dock and get my hook out, but for some dumb reason I have one foot on the dock, one foot on the boat.  Boat moves away from dock and I didn't shift my weight to one side or the other and into the lake I went.

Second time, we were out on cedar lake I think getting ready to put the boat back on the trailer and the water only looks a foot or so deep.  I get out to push it up the rest of the way and instead of being knee deep in water, I'm clinging to the side of the boat up to my neck.  Stupid soft bottom.  Phone soaked, me soaked, and it was raining on top of that.

At least my phone still worked after it dried out.

Lightningboy

I worked midnights for many years, and would often fish local lakes on weekdays during the summer to avoid the crowds.

So I'm on Lake Orion on a Monday morning in July, skipping tubes under the many docks.  As I work my way down the shoreline, I skip under a dock that has a rather good looking young lady laying face down sunbathing.  She hadn't moved for several minutes, so I assumed she was snoozing.

As my bait skips underneath her, it causes a tiny splash of water to hit her in the face.  Up she pops, but the bikini top she had untied stayed on the dock!

She quickly snatches up her towel to her chest as she sees me.  I tilt my hat and say "sorry ma'am".  She gave me a nice little smile, and we both went back to what we were doing.

Can't remember if I even caught anything that day... ;D

Back in the early 90's, I was pulling my boat out of the Grand River at the 118th street ramp after pre-fishing for one of the old charity tournaments. I was going to the dock to drop my buddy off to go get the truck and I was fighting the current one way and the wind the other. As I got close to the dock, my buddy was at the front getting ready to jump, He says "hold up" and I thought I heard "back up", so I put the boat into reverse. Well he jumped for the dock and missed and landed in the river about chest high. As he walked up the ramp and looking back with a look that I will never forget, he then walks to my truck dripping wet, climbs in and backs the trailer in the river. After getting the boat on the trailer and pulling me out, he climbs out and walks around to the passenger side and sits back down still dripping wet. After strapping the boat down, I open the driver's side door and looking a soaked cloth driver's seat and well soaked friend, I just start laughing. I threw a towel on my seat for the trip home, but that just soaked up what water there was and transferred it to me.

I'll start by saying I watched Cy's entire mis-adventure from Don Watts's boat and it looked like it hurt!

This past fall I went to Morrison Lake with a couple buddies to get in that "one more trip before it freezes" bass fishing trip.  It was December 16 and the water was 37 degrees.  Well, I've been having trouble with my trolling motor which required me to step on it after deploying it to make it "snap" down into the locked position.  We get to our first spot and I lowered the trolling motor into the water, put my big booted foot on it, slipped and fell out of the boat!  Mind you it's 27 feet deep here.  On the way out I managed to grab the RAM mount for the front fish finder.  It's the only reason I only got wet up to my waste.  Ever tried to get back in your boat from the bow, in now full of water boots and snowmobile pants?  Never gonna happen.  Lucky for me my friend Dale quick grabed me by the collar and dragged me back in!!  I did manage to fish most of the day, there was absolutely no wind and my snowmobile pants are waterproof so my upper legs didn't get wet at all, but I was soaked from the shins down, no dry clothes anywere, and soaked boots.  Caught about 20 fish though!  Also got a new trolling motor mount so this will never happen again.

In nearly 40 years of boating it is the first time I have EVER fallen out of a boat.  Hopefully the last too!

I have a Lightning Boy type story.
At first light I was fishing the St. Joe river at Twin Branch.  I was using the TM to fish against the current so there was no noise.
I came around a point with some bushes on it and there was this very lithe young lady standing on her deck, drinking coffee with not a stitch on.  It took her a minute to notice me.
With out any hurry she picked up the paper and went inside while I just kept working upstream.
It was a very pleasant day!

unfortunately for me, i've had plenty of blooper moments but to spare you all the horrfific details i will just highlight 2 from over the past 10 years.  We launched out of Algonac about 8 years ago, at the time i had a 2001 Champion 206,  was alone that day and fished around for a while when my motor started acting up...after an hour of messing around with it i decided to limp back to the launch and check it out.  I just drove it up on the trailer and did not hook the winch strap to it...got in the truck and eased it up and out.  After working on it for a while i figured i should call it a day and from in the boat decided to lean over the bow and attach the winch...well i reached too far and flipped right out of the boat head first onto the asphalt!  No explanation on that one  ???

the other one happened just this past year...lets call it a near miss.  We were launching for a club tournament in late July on a small lake in mid Michigan.  Again i was fishing alone today but now i have a Ranger.  Since i had to launch and park i decided to just back the boat in, then got in the boat and was going to back it off.  Well the first try, i put it in reverse and tried to back it away from the trailer but i wasnt in quite far enough.  So i jumped back out got in the truck and edged it down just a little bit more..when OOPS THERE SHE GOES!  I had left it in reverse!  Luckily for me the dock was on my drivers side, i jumped out of my truck ran down the dock (just missing the stupid DNR signs they put at the end of the docks about aquatic hitchhikers and power loading  8)) and leaped to the deck of the boat.  I made it without falling in which was a suprise as me and leaping dont typical get along.  So we will call it a near miss....but got my heart pounding for the day that is for sure.  :o

These are good.

I was fishing a marina and as we approached a walkway you had to take the seat posts down and lay down in order to fit under the walkway.  After we passed, I was so eager to get the first cast in that I forgot to put the butt seat back in.  When I leaned back expecting to rest on the butt seat it wasn't there and I stumbled back, tripping over the gunwale and into the lake.  It was 80 degrees but I completely drenched my wallet and phone.

Another time I was fishing the same marina and I had my wife with me for the only time she has ever gone on a boat ride on this body of water.  It was midday, middle of the summer during the week.  We came down the same shoreline and this attractive woman in a yacht was sunbathing.  She gets up and sure enough- she is topless.  My wife goes "So is this why you like fishing here so much?"

I did launch my boat this summer at my club lake.  In my haste I didn't tie it up very well and it drifted out a good 20 yards.  Since I didn't want to have wet clothes, I swam out in my undies to get the boat.  As I was coming back to the dock to get my clothes, another boater drove up.  That had to be a helluva site.  A wet guy, standing in the bow of his boat on the TM in his tidy whities coming up to the dock.  We got a good laugh after I explained what happened.

I have too many to list. One of the more memorable ones was when I had a 14'v-hull stern drive with a 20horse. My buddy and I had put the anchor down and forgot about it. Started using the trolling motor and couldn't figure out why it was struggling so bad, decided it must of been dead batteries. When we left and got on plane the boat had a funny jerking feeling. We were in the crooked river so I was looking out in front. My buddy turns around and yells something while hysterically laughing and pointing. I say what? He yells again and this time I make out the word "anchor". BOY, I can still see that little white anchor just a skipping along.  ::)

Other one was launching on Walloon. Early morning late September. I was by myself and it was quite frosty. Had my bass boat this time. I usually just back down the ramp a ways ,tie off ,then back down a little more and let the boat float off. Usually never have a problem. Well, in my haste that morning I didn't cinch down the knot well enough, and instead of just waiting to see if it held (which I now do) I just pulled up and parked out of view. I grabbed a few things from the truck and started back toward the dock. I remember thinking how far away from the dock the boat looked. I ran all the way down and of course the rope was also out of reach. Got lucky and didn't have to swim for it. One and only boat in site saved me from a COLD COLD swim.

Good idea. I'm a nerd clutz (and redheaded stepchild) so I will have to think a while to decide which story to tell... there are so many (the ones I can still remember anyway). Some are more tragic than funny maybe... like getting ordered to shore during a tournament by a police helicopter...

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
