I enrolled in this seminar last year and it was informative. You share a unit with 2 or three guys. Most of the units are the smaller screen units. I have an 898 and a 798 and wanted as much insight as possible without taking up a lot of time from the seminar instructor.  Maybe if some of the GLB members who are  knowledgeable about HB units can try and start a program like this one to teach each other. I'm sure we could get great participation. Gander mountain , I think used to hold seminars.

Classes at Houstons house, what time should we show up?

mikesmiph

I wish this would have been announced sooner. I NEED this seminar, but, of course, I work that day.

these are great classes. I went 2 years ago when my unit was new. When I got in my boat(3 months later) I forgot most everthing we went over.... I should have taken notes... It's a lot of info to soak in

Wish I wasn't in Mt. Pleasant.... but at least I have a humminbird 998 that should be arriving at front door in a couple days  ;D

huston

I think seminars such as this should be smaller in size because people ask particular questions about their units which take up limited time. I really didn't get all my questions answered and no 898 was on display. If any of you have Hb units, you should go out on the water whenever we have some water and TRY to just dedicate time to your units. I linked my units together with a cable under the knowledge that if I save a waypoint in the 898, it would be saved to the other. It was while the the unit was on. But when you turned the second unit off, the waypoint was lost. To perform this task correctly their is a module, that you have to install. The cable between the two only links them temporarily.

I am thinking about hiring Balog for a one day trip to go over HB settings and setup....I haven't gotten in contact with him yet to see if he would be willing to go out in my boat and help me get my HB Units working at their best...

For the price of one rod and reel combo I would think the knowledge gained would be worth it...

fiker

I'm over here on the East side but I'd certainly go to a similar event over here.  I've had my units for 3 seasons now, and I'm sure there's much I don't know and see.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

All, the good news is we hear you and we've made the class sizes smaller this year, 25 people as opposed to 40 per class.  The bad news is we filled all of the classes up.  If you need some help with HB stuff let me know, I check in on a regular basis.

dartag

Just got a 998 and would be interested in an east side seminar.  How many would it take to make it worth while for you.

fiker

You don't need a 998.   Docks show just as easily above water as they do below.   ;)

Tired of people yelling at me I am headed back offshore.

djkimmel

I find that dock fishing can make life more interesting... I guess you could use a Humminbird to see how big the bass is under the dock? Or how many bass are under the dock??
