ABA District 7 Director puts on a charity event for under privledged children, and it's a blast.  Last year was great and I think I might have had more fun than the kids, except for losing a combo.  I know that alot of you where a part of last year, but I would just like to invite the rest of you out to show you support, lend a hand, and have the time of your life.

Spending time with these kids and knowing that you are giving something back, makes your summer, and makes you feel amazing.  If you know the director of district 7, or an ABA member, get the info from them and make plans for that weekend.  You won't regret it

Shane,

Whats up man.  The event is called the Fish n Friends.  There is a ton of info about it on this site.  Just letting you know.  If you get the name wrong again, you must buy all my drinks next time we go to Wixom lake. That could get expensive. And this time, im driving home! :o

As far as the beer goes, you'll have to wait till I finish

Thanks for bringing it up Shane... we should have a thread for it here.

Anyone who knows me knows that I always give back to the sport of fishing in any way I can. A few years ago I decided to make it my goal in life to introduce as many children as I could to the sport of fishing. I purposely sought out an organization that deals with underprivileged children. That is when I found the organization Crossroads for Youth. Crossroads for youth is a non-profit organization that deals with underprivileged and troubled teens. I spent many months talking to them and getting to know their organization before deciding that it was the exact group of kids I was looking for.

My goal is to use my fishing connections to introduce as many kids to fishing as I can and give those kids the tools they need to go fishing. I want to make sure each child takes home a rod, reel, tackle and tackle box, along with the knowledge on how to use it. I decided to get my fishing friends and sponsors involved. They all stepped up big time and Fish-n-Friends was born.

Fish-n-Friends is an all-volunteer group of Michigan bass anglers who care about the future of our youth. We believe a love of fishing and the outdoors can lead to more enjoyment of life and set positive examples for tomorrow?s youth.

Anthony,
Sorry I'm catching this post so late.  I can donate some product as well, though I won't be able to make it out there with my boat.   If it's too late for product please feel free to count me in for next year.

How about a Mustang MD3183 (link) or something in that price range from the electronics category.  Feel free to PM me and let me know what will sell the most tickets for you.

Hey Mr. bassackward,
Does this mean you will also be there? Hope so.

And guys, don't forget to check the forum calendar for key events. I do my best to keep listings on the calendar with links back to more information.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Man that was a GREAT time!! The 2 young men I took out with me had a riot!! The both caught fish and each lost a GOOD pike.....but one of the guys had only fished once before and the other had never fished at all!! They were very courteous and respectful of eachother, my boat, my equipment and they had the casting thing down in no time!! I think they were really interested in learning as much as possible, because they asked me some very insightful questions and I could tell they were really concentrating on what I was telling them. I had a great time....the expressions on their faces were priceless when I put the hammer down on that 225 and we were up and outa there in no time.....65mph was a real treat for them!! Honestly, I think they liked the ride more than thefishing...ahahaha... and both kept calling me "Sir"...hahaha...that was nice, but I think it was more out of forgetting "Bill" and being to shy to ask what my name was!! One young man was a Russian immagrant,..he spoke absolutely perfect english without a hint of an accent, and he's been here since he was 3 yrs old.....he speaks fluent Russian too since his parents wanted him to be bi-lingual. For being 16-17 yrs old, he's got a great future if he keeps himself focused and learns forom his past mistakes! The other young man is from Detroit and he was the quiet one of the two...but he never got bored and considering he had NEVER fished before, he was casting a spinning combo 30-40yds within minutes. I was very proud of those two and I hope they got bit by the fishing bug today. When my raffle tickets were drawn for prizes, I gave them to the two kids and let them go pick out something from the prize stash. I don't need anything, but those two walked away with some baits and t-shirts!! Thanks again Anthony for giving me the opportunity to help out........next year, we need a BUNCH more boaters to help out, and trust me,....you will get a LOT more out of it, than it costs you to lend a hand. You might just be instrumental in changing a kids life forever!! I'll be back again....wouldn't miss that chance for anything!!
Keep on Fishin'..
Mac
