Options/suggestions for removing a live racoon from the bottom of a boat??

Mike S.

A live trap. Broom. Shovel.

Mike S.

Poison. Anti freeze. Make it not live. Gun. Tazer. Possibilities are endless. Let us know what works.

MaizeNBlue

Lol rather not kill it, rather not have to tear the floor up to get the carcass out

Baybass

If its under the floor I would put plug in and start filling with water.  Enough water he will come out how he went in.

This post made me think of that insurance commercial with the guy(racoon) in the attic.. :)

Seriously though that sucks.....I have been winterizing with moth balls and dryer sheets over the last few years and haven't had any critter issues....Knock on wood....Having a Racoon in the bilge could be a nightmare...Good luck...

YpsiBass

Asked my Fred Bear-type boss and he suggested a live trap with peanut butter bait.

dartag

Live trap with with tuna fish.  The water Idea may work.

MaizeNBlue

Funny story...while driving to the lake, it went on top of the deck, running from back to front, sat in the drivers seat, was freaking out, looked like it wanted to jump but was to scared. Pulled over, still wouldn't jump off, went to shoe it off, disappeared under the passenger counsel, then reappeared in the rod locker at the ramp....went to get it out and somehow got in between the council and the fiberglass...and under the floor it went. No appearance while on the water or the drive home.

Park the boat outside and the coon will leave unless it is a female with a nest of babies under the floor. If that is the case you have to catch the mom in a live trap and then figure out where the babies are at. If you have a real problem with this let me know as I did animal removal for a living for about 15 years.
Remember you don't quit fishing when you get old, you get old when you quit fishing

MaizeNBlue

Think it left on its own last night...filled the boat up with water...no sounds or anything...so guess thats a good thing.

Put a radio and a light in your boat.  Turn the light and radio on . Problem solved . It is baby season it may take 24 hours or more. If it has young..
