I haven't tried vanish in the last year, I have heard a few pros say it's now better.  I use a lot of flourocarbon and would like to save some money if I can.  Has anyone used it lately, is it really better?  The last time I used it you had to treat the 10lb like 4lb on the hooksets.  I use the bass pro flourocarbon, but only outdoor worlds sells it which is tough when your up north.

I've used it since it came out ... anywere from 8-12 lb test.  Absolutely love it!  Biggest problem is line memory - use a good line conditioner and/or the bigger type reels and you will be just fine.

Hooksets only come into play if a) you are Hulk Hogan and like spinning/filetting/de-boning your fish in one step and 2) if you really have heavy action rods that load up extremely quick like a Loomis or something.

The line is actually extremely abrasion resistant as well ... it won't help around extreme debris like mussels on rocks or docks, etc. Heck, nothing will in that case.  But, for normal wear and tear, I love it.

My .02 worth ...

I haven't used it in a few years because my impression was the same as yours.  Not very strong and didn't last very long.  I have used BPS also, but was not that impressed.  I am very happy with Seagur though.

canvsbk

I tried it and quit it real quick for the same reasons. I'm currently using Sunline and love it but would love to save some $ too.
Look past what they want you to see.

I went to the transition and have no problems with it.
Remember you don't quit fishing when you get old, you get old when you quit fishing

I tried it and quickly left it alone. Line memory was to much for me. Either P-line or (Seagar, )spelling may be incorrect is better. I use braided, Cabelas Ripcard Si though with a flourocarbon leader on spinning and baitcasters.

Durand Dan

I used Vanish when it first came out and dumped it due to break offs. In fact it made me go back to using Trilene XT almost excluslivly. I just purchased some recently to give it another chance hoping that it has been improved. All I read is that flouracarbons are the way to go and I can use all the help I can get!!

Hooksetter

I also tried Vanish a few years ago. After one pre-fishing trip I gave it up. Too much memory. It's P-Line floro for me .

Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

MaizeNBlue

I have tried Vanish, and it's junk! Way to much memory, way to many breakoffs, and always seems to fray like a split end, esp with Transition. I use Seager for all my flourcarbon needs, never had a problem with it.

LGMOUTH

I too have tried Vanish in the past and didnt like it because of the memory, I now use seagar or PLine much better products.
When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

Thanks, saved me a few bucks this spring.  I'm going to test the various p-line lines this spring and find what I like of the new stuff.  I'll stay away from the vanish until they make some improvements.

SUNLINE IS THE BEST FLOROUCABON HANDS DOWN!
It cost alittle more byt is well worth the money, It last longer, stronger, and limper than the rest.
