I have a Eagle 480 fishelite that I downloaded waypoints from to a SSd card in order to tranfer to another 480. No problem with that but I WANT TO PUT THEM ON MY COMPUTER AND i AM HAVING DIFFICULTY DOING THAT. I also downloaded the Lowrance GDM6 program to better organize them. The problem is I don't know how to open them or transfer them to the Lowrance program. A lttle help  from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I have a card reader also.

What kind of card reader? The Lowrance one or a regular card reader?

When you plug in the USB cable for you card reader, does your PC recognize the reader as driver? It should. How exactly depends on what your computer is running.

I'm assuming the downloaded waypoints went into a *.usr file on the reader card. You should be able to copy and paste files from your SD card to your hard drive with 'My Computer/explorer.'

I'm not familiar with the GDM6 - I've used Mapcreate and the older GDM16.

GDM16 uses a different file format than the .usr. When you start GDM v.6 and try to open a file, what file format extension(s) does it look for?

I would expect this version to open .usr format files.

I'm using a regular card reader. I'll try the procedure you are recommending and let you know the out come. Thanks

Thanks Dan, I was able to transfer the waypoints to the Lowrance  program and store the waypoints. Now I have backup on my computer for my waypoints. Boy technology is something else if you know how to use it. Have any of you guys or gals been to this website? http://www.hightechfishing.com/lowrancetips.html

I have not been there, but it looks like some nice resources. I'm working on a new resources section myself because of all the things anglers need to know and ask. I'm way behind him, but I'll keep working on it. It will be a while before I get to the real technical level with it, but you start it up and go from there.

Of course - thanks to all of you - this forum is one great BIG resource!!!
