Am I getting this right?

There is no weigh-in on Friday and the weigh-ins on Sat. and Sun. are at 10:00 pm.

Who has a handle on this weekend's schedule?

I've been all over ESPN's website, that is the best I can come up with.

Sounds like great coverage in the morning... I'm a little leary about the rest.

Classic TV: big change 2/19/2007
BASS just released the TV schedule for this week's Bassmaster Classic, and more than a few BassFans will likely be disappointed ? especially those with kids. First, here's a look at the schedule. All times noted are Eastern, and shows air on ESPN2.

Saturday (Feb. 24)
7:00-8:30 a.m. - Bassmaster Classic Day 1
8:30-10:00 a.m. - Live from Birmingham
10:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. - Bassmaster Classic Day 2

Sunday (Feb. 25)
6:30-8:30 a.m. - Bassmaster Classic Day 2
8:30?10:00 a.m. - Live from Birmingham
10:00 p.m.?12:00 a.m. - Bassmaster Classic Day 3

Overall, viewing hours are 2 hours less this year (likely because BassCenter is no longer on the air), but note that the day-2 and day-3 weigh-ins will air beginning at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, as opposed to the last year, when they aired throughout the dinner hours. Also notable is the tape-delay broadcast of the day-1 weigh-in the following morning, and that the final weigh-in airs only on ESPN2 (not ESPN, as was the case last year).

In case BassFans are wondering which programs will air during the dinner hours on Saturday and Sunday, instead of the Classic, selections include college basketball and motorports on Saturday, then indoor track and field, women's college basketball, World's Strongest Man, motorsports and SportsCenter on Sunday.

So i guess that means no Hooters for the Classic.  I dont think they open til 11 am.  Plus, cheetam is usually taking a nap at that time on a saturday, and i cant go unless he goes.

good thing they didn't cancel  " World's Strongest Man ".  that is my favorite show..  got some new tapes tonight.

The tv schedule for the Classic is disappointing. Disappointing isn't really a strong enough word. There are alot of words I'd like to use but I won't.

To me this schedule is a step backwards. No live weigh-in's? Who's idea was that? >:(

Hopefully the right people at ESPN will come to understand that was a bad decision and restore live weigh-in's next year.

Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

I hate to be a doomsdayer but from all I've read and several well thought out opinions on Bassfan and a couple of other respectable boards this is what I'm gathering, partially my opinion and mostly summarizing what I've read...

"Over the past couple of years ESPN is very slowly and methodically weening themselves of BASS."

To not hijack this thread and tie it into the original post... this schedule change does not surprise me.  Evidence of the surfacing rumors - opinions I summarized above.  I'm sorry Josh, you wont be able to see as much coverage.  :'(

This just means you'll have to spend more time giving me tutoring this weekend.  That, my friend, is definately a bonus.  We both win!

B,

I find your comment very interesting.  I assume that "of" was meant to be "off"?

I would be interested to hear your opinion further on this topic.  I surprised to think that ESPN might hurt BASS in the long run.  I really thought it would be good for the sport.

I just finished reading a book by Ken Schultz..I can't remember the name of it..Bass something or another...anyway he definetly didn't have anything good to say about ESPN or the way that BASS is headed.

Orlando Jon

I really surprised to read all of this, I was expecting the coverage to continue to grow over the next couple years and I thought we would have ESPN to thank for that.....what a shame.  When is someone going to start an all fishing channel.....please....I need an all fishing channel.

djkimmel

How about GreatLakesBass.tv? (Sorry - I think I bumped my head and have gotten a little ahead of myself...)

Maybe a sirius radio channel would be a better way to start out...They say all bass fisherman have a face fit for radio.

I haven't thought about that angler... er, angle...

GLB-TV.

Kinda like the sound of that.

" .... and now for the host of GLB fishing this week.  Herrrrrrrrrre's DAN!".

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.
