Well, things will probably be a little bumpy for a few days as the new name server settings propagate through the Internet, but I see some of you have already made it here to the new hosted version of GreatLakesBass.com.

Congratulations. I still have a fair amount of work to do, but some of the changes have to wait until people (including myself) quit ending up at the old host pages and forum. Some things will look different here a little.

If you are here though, you should be able to get to my new dedicated VHS virus page. If you get an error, it will go away sometime today through Wednesday.

If you have any issues or problems with various web pages, please be patient. Most should go away by Wednesday other than a few I'm working on that may take until the weekend to fully resolve. You can email me support at greatlakesbass.com if you want to report a problem. Thanks for your patience and participation.

Looks like you are waiting on the A record for DNS to replicate across the cloud.  I'm showing an IP address in the URL.

So what I mean to say is it still just doesnt feel like home until I see GreatLakesBass.com up there in the URL!! ;D  ::)

I'm a bit scared about this change.  IF Bluecoat flags the new host as a personals page or forums it will be blocked at work and I will have absolutely nothing to do at work while I wait for stuff to break on the network.   :o :-\' >:(

One thing I can say is that the page is faster already!  Glad to be here at the new host.  Thanks for all your hard work DK.  We appreciate the place to hang out!

It is faster. I did a lot of homework to find the best place while still being in the right price ranger for now. It seems to help a lot with the IE page load error so far to. It is supposed to be more stable with better uptime.

We'll all find out together. ;)

bshaner, I couldn't even get to it all with the greatlakesbass.com domain until early, early this monring. I've been using the temporary address you see sometimes in the URL address (or horrors - AOL software - yikes!). Tomorrow, there should be enough propagation done for most users that I can adjust the forum server settings to force the greatlakesbass.com domain instead of still falling back on the IP address. If anything, this should not have much affect at your work since glb is still with the same registrar. Tell them (it) I said so.

Hopefully, that will fool your nasty old bluecoats. I apologize again that this will cause some weird session and login issues with the forum for a couple more days or so, especially the unlucky few who have ISPs with slow cache refresh. It will all be over soon and hopefully worth the short term hassle.

Dan,
Can't get "unread posts" will that clearup? sure does make it easy for reading new posts.

That won't work right for some people yet. My computer moves around to different IP addresses and all of them are doing different things. I finally got on clean late last night at home, but today I'm back to using the temporary address.

I would expect that most things are working right for most people by tomorrow evening. There may be a couple day lag for different settings like read new posts to clear up completely and reset though.

I will probably be shifting the hard-coded database settings tonight from the temporary URL to the permanent (greatlakesbass.com). This may cause some people to have to login a couple times again (myself included).

It may also cause some people to temporarily lose connection to the forum again until their ISP/connection finishes resetting their cache from the old host to the new host. I apologize in advance for that.

I know this is frustrating, but it will be all cleared up soon. It had to be done and now is a better time than later. Thanks for your patience.

Anyone still having consistent problems with anything? Most should have worked itself out by now.

I'm still working on the spellchecker issue so, besides that.
