What is the best brand?

The one I think comes the closest to a Senko are the ones made by Red Dragon

A Yamamoto Senko is the best Senko type bait! I think Durand Dans comment said it all: "The one I think comes the closest to a Senko..... Close, but no cigar. With this particular style of bait I think the original is still the best. IMHO.

It's hard to beat the Joshimoto/Brian McCarter Kent Lake Killer from what I hear.

Although Yamamoto's are the original......my time on the water says....."Yum Dinggers".

The ONLY reason I like them better is because they do not tear as easily.

Just went to a west side Spring Fling at the Outdoorsman Pro Shop in Jenison. Grayson pointed out that Gary Y is making a swimming senko with pretty unique tail. Looks interesting. Had to buy a pack. Having seen them before.

I don't know about Senkos, I've never used em.  Frankly, the price has kept me away.  I know that's silly, but it's true. Price, and what I hear/read about how they don't last very long. 

I've had really good success with YUM Dingers, the X worm from Xtreme bass, and some of the Red Dragons.  Each one has a different density, and therefore different sink level. 

Although each comes in a green color of some kind or other, each one has it's time and place also. 

The lamnates from YUM are hard to beat.
But, one night last year on Woodland, it was the green with gold tinsel X worm the worked the best. 
Opening week of the NBA last year it was the Green Pumpkin by Red Dragon. 
Who knows? Only the fish I guess.

There's just something about the weight and softness of a Yamamoto Senko that no other brand seems to be able to duplicate.  I've tried about every brand of Senko type worm and none of them seems to have the exact action and castability (due to the weight) that the original has.  And it seems to make a HUGE difference in bites.  But the closest I've found to the softness and weight is the Tiki Stick.  I have to say, they seem to elicit nearly as many bites as the Senko, but they don't have all the best colors.  But if you're looking for the basics, they have 'em.  I hear Wayne Carpenter is coming out with 5" X-Worms.  Those might be worth a try.  I love the colors.  If he comes out with the Watermelon with Purple and Chartreuse flake... I'll be all over those.  I killed the river smallies last season on those color tubes.  Oops...got off track... buy Senkos.  They're more expensive and they tear more easily...but they just seem to work better IMHO.

Somebody on this site sold some senko gadget that allowed you to slip a sinko in a tube (looked like a sawed of CO2 cartridge with a screw on the end) then you slipped an O ring up and over the brass so it centered on the senko. It really worked well and wouldn't mind getting a couple more. Anybody remember who that might be??

I hear what your saying REVTRO.......the senko's do feel different than the  others.   I noticed  that they feel heavy compaired to the others.   I seem to catch fish with either manufacturer (Yamamoto & Yum Dinggers) but what my parter and I have noticed is the definate color preference on a given lake at a given time.    We use both Yum & Yammys pre-fishing until we find the preferred color.........could be Yum....or...could be Yammy........but once we find the preferred color......we use that given bait and whackem'!!!

I have not tried any of the other manufacturers.........didn't need to.

And this is true with any presentation.  I buy into the color much more than the texture of a bait.  In my personal opinion the only thing texture and taste of soft plastics influences is how long they'll hold onto it.

On one lake I fish alot if I dont throw a light purple with purple fleck then I am going to have a poor day.  The Yum Dinger in this color is my go to bait for this lake.  On another lake it's the Yamamoto in baby bass.  I havent found an imitation that produces better than Yamamoto in the baby bass color.  However I think I nailed the color pouring my own 4" senkos a couple weeks ago.

Many of you may laugh when you read this, but for the money, BPS Stickbaits. I can't think of too many times I've been outfished with more expensive brands and they last a lot longer.

i throw mostly YUM dingers... i like the price and durability... if its not a dinger than i go with the original Gary Y SENKO.

i will use a real senko on windy days or days when the fish are deeper because of the additional weight. I like the dinger for most other occasions, especially skipping docks since it holds up to all the casts better and seems to have a slower decent = more time in the strike zone when target fishing.

favorite all time color is watermelon red & blk flake, if its murky i throw a junebug or black/blue fleck
