Ya got me... Looks like a hybrid of a jig and that blade bait sort of that I think Mepps was making.

Yep, that's it.  I guess you "swim" it like a crank.  If memory serves me, someone just won a Stren event on the big "O" using it.

Can't really tell how they have that blade attached. I have a few of those blades sitting somewhere. I'm no different than everyone else. I bought a pack of the blades to try in front of various lures maybe 3 seasons ago and then forgot to actually try them.

Every fall I 'find' them in a pocket or compartment and say, "oh yeah, I was going to try those" and then I forget again. I gotta stop doing that. If only I could fish about 50 more days a year... or 100...?

Oh yeah, that's the bait they are talking about.  I first saw them out at the Bassmasters Classic in Pittsburg, and man are they sweet.  I was hoping to get a season in with them without everyone else knowing, but oh well.  The blade doesn't spin, it kinda sits in front of the bait as it moves through the water and acts like a brake.  This causes it to wobble around, and make the thing change direction.  It is VERY erratic coming through the water, like a spinnerbait with built in pauses and starts.

Plus, if you want to, you can kill it and fish it like a jig, then pop it up and swim it again.  The thing is deadly, the fish have never seen the like of it.  I was having a tough day on my favorite local lake, and started throwing these.  I caught a few right away, just before I had to leave for work.  I plan to experiment with them all season, but I have a good degree of confiedence in them already.

They come in Black/blue or white /chartruese.  Not sure of other colors, but they do come in different weights, like 3/8 and 1/2.  Good luck finding them, though!

They even show the trick of rigging a soft jerkbait on there.....  darn.

Oh well, at least the guys in my club are slow to pick up new stuff.  Most of them just started using senkos last year.

Yeah - that's why I always tell the truth - (two reasons actually - some angler just won't believe you anyway) because some anglers just won't follow through... I remember using the Sluggo in 1989 and at first guys were like, "what the heck is that?" I bet it was two seasons after that before I saw a fair number of Michigan anglers giving them a try.

(Okay, I sometimes have fun with the truth - I was using a pink Sluggo on St. Clair for smallies and when my draw partner asked me what they were, I told him they were a homemade bait me and my friends were making in my garage and they WEREN'T for sale!! Unfortunately, the look on my face was too revealing - he saw through me like I was cheap glad wrap.)

Man o' man did those smallies hate those pink Sluggos. WHAM! Gerry Gostenik says he buys about 2,000 pink flukes every spring for his guide clients on St. Clair and just goes at 'em.

Oh, I really don't mind.  I picked a couple up for a guy on this board, he didn't want them, so now I have extras!  Maybe he'll change his mind this season.......

i read where a bait store sold 1400 of them before the FLW events.  last year it was the Horny Toad...  another excuse to spend money...  good thing my Ranger has a big storage compartment...

It's all about that confidence thing, plenty of guys have confidence in new baits for some reason (like me and the Robo-creature thing ), but you always need that good 'ol sure thing to fall back on (Norie bugs, anyone?)

I'm going to have to have some of these,  if you couldn't tell my favorite is a spinnerbait,  this looks like I would like it alot.  Thanks for the video it was great.
