I just thought it would be neat to hear about some of the largest bass you all have caught here in Michigan.

Mine was about 2 ounces shy of 5 pounds according to my scale. I caught it in spring lake.

Cy

I my largest large mouth was 7lbs 4ozs caught on Brooks Lake and my largest small mouth was 6lbs 2ozs on Portage Lake.

Largemouth: 7lb 1oz from a private lake near Battle Creek
Smallmouth: 6lb 1oz from Maceday Lake in Waterford.

Bad thing about the smallmouth was that it was my first ever "dropshot" fish..... kind of ruined every other fish caught on that technique since then.

Largemouth... not sure of the weight as I was 16 years old and fishing on Glen Lake.  It measured 25".

Smallmouth... I've caught several 6.2 pounders... couple from Glen Lake, one from Green Lake (Interlochen).
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

That's not a Michigan bass.  Caught that one last year on Table Rock Lake, Missouri.

6.75 lbs Mullett Lake smallmouth bass. This bass was eatin' like me at the time (glutton?!?). Looked like it has swallowed a Nerf football!! I lost it's twin on the very next cast on a heavy, belly-flopping jump! There's many reasons I love that lake! This is just a couple of them!

I caught a 25" largemouth bass once out of the middle of a remote cattail island near Fish Point, Saginaw Bay back in the old days, but I didn't weigh it. Had a spectacular practice those few days! Not sure I even took a picture? I might have a 'lost' picture somewhere in the old archives (that I can't find) of it sitting in my homemade livewell cooler..??

I was serious in those days!! Didn't have time for that nonsense! Had to beat Kevin!!! Rather than try to take it in alive, get it weighed and then let it go somewhere else, I put it back where I caught it. I was expecting to go back there and catch that bass again! But daaaangg, it was big for a youngster from Flint, Michigan. Well, Lansing by then I believe...? Either way, we didn't have many bass like that around Flint or Lansing. But yeah, I was going to catch it again. In the tournament!

Actually, it was probably brother Randy (a group of Kalamazoo anglers really), Nowyorkas (if he could keep his lower units on the outboard! ;D), Bud and a few others at that time I think that I was trying to beat?

Got Fish??

Orchard Lake 5.5 lb largemouth, Blue Lake 6.75 lb smallmouth. Several 4's  and 5's on StClair

Skulley

Biggest largemouth I ever caught was 9lbs 12 oz on Lake Istapoga in Sebring, FL fishing with a friend of mine who lived on a canal there back in 1992.  I've caught several of the biggest smallies I've ever caught in the last couple years on St. Clair in the 6lb to 7lb range.

My biggest largie would be a 21" when I was a teenager back on Canadian lakes. Didn't weigh it but she was a fatty. Smallmouth was also a 21" last season out on the saginaw bay, that fish weighed 5.5lbs. I got a lot of work to do to get up there with the PB listed on this thread

I've caught quite a few 5+ LM and SM but haven't broken the 6lb mark. Planning on that happening this year!

Biggest largemouth was 6lb 10oz out of little crooked in sister lakes when I was a wee little lad.

Biggest smallmouth was 7lb 4oz from St Clair a few years back

FISH HARD!!!

ACbassassassin

Not sure on weight as I didn't have a scale, and yes, my arm was a little extended in the picture. Measured 24.5" on a golden rule though.

Any guesses on weight?

Over 6 for sure

I wish I had a scale on board to verify. If so, I think it be my first ever 6+...

TheFishinPollock

A 10 + on the big O, man I miss fishing there..............

Caught several 6+ and one 7.1 out of my lake about 10 years or so ago.  Got them like that on a normal basis.   My prettiest one that was 6.9 came outa  a lake over by Gaylord knowen more for its native trout population than its bass fishing

And still to date, The best catch ever while fishing for bass ;D

That's cheating! Only Michigan bass allowed in this thread (or maybe Michigan ducks in TheFishinPollock's case...  ::) who also cheated mentioning Lake Okeechobee!!!!  :P )

It's not a contest anyway... just a cabin fever treatment... SOMEONE has ALWAYS 'caught' one bigger when it comes to bass anglers!! ;D

We'll give it to you based on 24.5 inches. Now, go out and try to catch a bigger one! They're out there. Bass fishing is better now than it was when I started. We're lucky lucky lucky :)
