I have used a few spooks and strike kings but have not had much success?

Got Fish??

Pop-r, natural colors. Match the belly color with the sky.

YpsiBass

Luckycraft Gunfish size 95 or bigger.  Hands down, easiest to walk, least number of tangles, most fish for me.

The megabass pop-x and pop-max are a close second, but they're just so darn pricey. I'm afraid a pike will come up and yeah no.

Cy

Luckycraft Sammy or Gunfish both awesome

I also like the Xcaliber Zell Pop size 3

Strike king sexy dawg is super easy to walk and you can cast it a mile!

TimH

Zara Spook One knocker.  black and gold pattern is my "confidence color", but I find that any color with black in it seems to work well.

g-splash 65 - no feather treble. or a gun fish, or a rico, or the big POP-R, or

Bill Dance Dancing shad ,it was made by Excalibur but I think it's made by Heddon now . Noisy , tons of movement , easy to walk and fish eat it . Fish miss it alot because it moves so much side to side . But it's so much fun and they keep coming back for it .

I like the LC Sammies, the original Pop R in bone white and a Yellow magic every now and then.

There a few lakes I fish that I knock em dead with a Zell Rowland Pop R. The original Zell Pop, not the newer ones. I don't get many topwater bites on those lakes with anything else.

Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Hoekset

6 lb Smallmouth

A Sammy is a great, great bait.  I cut my teeth walking a Spook.  Spit n Image are excellent too.

Nothing beats Great Lakes Smallmouth!

BIGSHOW

Zara spook all the way. I find white with red to work great. But I guess it depends on the body of water your on.

djkimmel

I like a bunch of them but I use the Super Spook most often, at least on the Great Lakes or bigger lakes up north.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Lucky craft wake tail 95, rebel minnow in bone, pop r over a walking bait........ Gotta love it when the Beesh are looking up !
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

Try leaving a bit more slack in your line when walking a spook. I've had great success with it and it is one of my favorites. When fished properly, the spook can be deadly. That erratic action can really turn on a bite so that other lures and presentations can all of a sudden be productive.

Yellow Magics and the Don Iovino Pop R style baits are good too although not "walking" baits. That feather seductively just wavering in the water when it's sitting still will drive bass crazy and they will literally blast it.

Top water is my favorite presentation as there is nothing more exciting than seeing a violent strike from a bass. Spook fishing takes lots of practice and experimentation. There are lots of cadences and presentations you can use to turn them on. Use your imagination when presenting this type of lure and you won't believe the fun.

Good luck and let us here on the forum know how you do.

My fav is the Heddon Super Spook in the Okie Shad color.  I've tried all sorts of other more expensive baits and nothing beat this $6 bait.

Dan

I too like a Sammy, and a Rico. Like the feather on the Rico treble. Sammy size big.

Fishmael

My favorite topwater is a pop-r, but that isn't a walking bait.  So then I've gotta say a Spook Jr.  It is still big enough to catch big fish, but small enough to not let the fish get a good look in our super clear water.
