I fished my 2nd event in the FOM northern Ky. divison this season on Yatesville and as my report will show, I just donated my money.

Practise 4-20- We arrived at the ramp at 7:00am and were very suprised to see that you couldnt see anything. Very heavy fog cover made it hard to even find the lauch ramp. We turned on the GPS and just idled around and started fishing. The first spot we hit was a little pocket just around the turn from the dam and my partner picked up a very nice 3lber on a brush hog off of a beaver hut, and that was all for this area. We worked our way down this strecth of bank and couldnt get another bite in any of the little pockets or off of the points that I would expect to have some fish stagging to come up and spawn. Water temp was 53 in the morning. We made our way down the lake to the carter Island area which looked like on the map to be a great staging area for spawners and we didnt get a bite. It was now about 12:00 and we went to the very back of a small cove that had a road bed running down one side and I shook 5 fish off of a senko and decided to stick the last one to see how big it was and it was just under the 15" limit so we felt pretty good about this spot for the next morning. On the way out of this cove I had several fish hit a crankbait near the mouth on a rocky point and I was sure these were fish hanging around till the water temp came up a bit more. The temp was now 60.

We headed down into little blain creek to try and duplicate the back of the cove pattern and it was wroking with several shake offs on the senko in the very back of the coves so we were feeling pretty good about our chance's for the tournament on Saturday. We pulled out of the lake around 4:00pm and headed to the meeting.

Tournament day- We got to the ramp and were greeted with around 5 other tournaments going on with just about 200 boats total. What a zoo it was. Luckily everybody was very courtieous and it didnt take long to get all of the boats in the water.

We blasted off at 7:15 and hit our first spot were we caught the fish on a brush hog yesterday and nobody was home. We headed back to the cut around Carter Island and started at the mouth and worked all the way to the back with nothing. When we got to the back I caught our first fish on the senko that was just shy of the 15" mark and looked alot like a spotted bass, but the jaw line was behind the eye so we threw it back. We proceded to catch 6 more that were just short of the 15 line back there so we pulled back to the first drop in the cove in hopes of some bigger bites and got nothing but shorts. I tried every thing I could think off in there and could not get a big bite.

We roamed around the rest of the day looking for similar areas and couldnt get bit, but it seamed that all day we were following 4 other boats up one bank and down the other.

So the second southern event is in the books for me and we weighed in nothing. I had hoped for at least one fish to help keep us high in the points, but it was a no go this time.

Now the pressure is on. We need to have top 3 finishes in the remaining events to even have a shot at anglers of the year and a berth to the 2008 national event.

The next event I will be fishing is the 2007 nationals on lake murray in SC and hopefully I will be coming home with a new boat. I ill keep you all posted.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, but it must be going around these days.  My time in Arkansas this weekend turned out much the same.  Luckily I didn't donate any money though, especially after my first day of 10 hrs with 3 fish.   :-\'
