Too soon to post about this yet?  We always take a while to decide on the lake and the date and all that. Can we have it on the actual west side this year?  Driving north is fun, but there's so many west siders that can't make it that it doesn't really seem like a west side tournament.  Also speaking from experience, driving 8+ hours round trip north to catch a handful of fish isn't exactly a great use of my time or money.  Where's good on the Lake Michigan side of the state that can handle 20ish boats?

i agree with yipsi should do belleville or portage

Bite your tongue, sir.

To me west is Kent lake.

Maybe a mid Mich lake.  Sanford would be fun in the fall.

LAPORTE

I vote for Belleville... that way ALL the people I know in the fishing world can just beat up on me at once.... lol

intermediate would be a good lake. no closer than skeg/elk but a bit more of a diverse fishery.

I don't know why you east-siders want to stay over there anyway... seems you might have better luck over here  ;D ;D ;D

Actually Sanford could be fun, but it's not really west...

I was already tossing around an idea of a 2nd event in very early october dude. Was thinkin back to elok/skeg, or intermediate, but wallon is an awsome lake too .

I vote for White, its actually "WEST".  Plus everyone could catch a ton of fish, its almost always on that time of year.

I'd like a west side tournament this for sure. I'd love to be able to get some sleep and not have to spend $100 to $200 for gas in the truck. What about Muskegon?  That lake is no joke. Can be tough at times, but what lake isn't?

djkimmel

Mona doing any good lately? Portage looked pretty good last fall but how many actual 'spots' are there?? Maybe Hamlin - though that doesn't seem as popular for the past 5 or so seasons. I think someone said they didn't know if Fremont is big enough?

I'm fine keeping it somewhere between Macatoilet and White Lake myself but it can be hard to find a date enough of you will show up for? I'm fine with Intermediate too but that does become a long drive with more gas money for everyone.

I can give up more exotic for more participation in a heartbeat. I just need to know enough of the rest of you feel the same.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Seems I never have the time or the money to do these anymore.  I really want to make this one if possible in memory of Wags.  I want a lake where memories can be made, and the North lakes seem the best for that in the fall.  you're not catching giant smallies in Muskegon or White.

Live to fish, Fish to live.

If we don't care about smallies then I would say let's White again.  It has been a few years since we have been there.  That was a rainy sucky day the first time...and tough fishing the other time.  Mona would be fine too.  The only problem with Muskegon is the size...it's hard for a person that doesn't know it.

Mona or White would be fun.  Both have largies and smallies, and both fish pretty good in the fall.

Yes, its a nice little lake but can be tough to fish. Last night 9.5lbs (3 fish limit) won. As the season goes on usually 7-8lbs (3 fish) will win the Wed night league. I personally wouldnt mind it, but not sure how well attended it would be.

It looks a little small given how many boats we usually have at madwags events. Skegemog was like 15 boats wasn't it?

bob o

how many boats were at the last "Fall" thing on Manistee, like 5 boats. i guess mona or white will proabaly get the go ahead this year. when are the pros comming to michigan this year we need to plan around the big dogs too this time

Waterfoul

The last west side event was 5 boats... but Dan didn't really do much in the way of promoting it due to being very busy at the time.  As for the pros coming to Michigan... they are going to be 300+ miles away at the Bays De Noc and I for one will not make that kind of trip just to watch other people fish.  I wouldn't think we would have to schedule around them.
