With the holiday today making the lakes busy I was wondering if you guys have any tips/tricks for fishing in the stirred up waters of a busy lake

Manxfishing

I myself like the water stained a little
You can't see the fish and they can't see you

But, My best advice would be
Get there early and only fish till 11 or noon
Leaves the whole day for other things
Family, Friends, Partys or a little yard work

I'm with Manxfishing on this.  Get there early and get off the water by noon.  You get a good morning bite and by the time the weekend warriors are up, you're home having that first beer.

Wolverine lake and Middle Straits lake have no wake laws until 11:00 each day.  However at 11:00 it is like the start of the Indy 500.  About 10:55 you can almost hear Gentlemen Start Your Engines.   The fish don't care if it is busy.

I have actually caught fish in the wake of skiers as they roared around the island in the middle of Highland lake.
I've also found Monday mornings to kinda stink after all the traffic on Saturday and Sunday.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I have found that the extreme high traffic lakes the fish seem to adapt to feed a lot more at night.... Night fishing is awesome.... No sun burn, no jet skis, no waves etc.... Just peaceful moon, stars, and giant bass in mass quantities on 3/8 bulky skirted black spinnerbaits with #4-5 Colorado blades and trailer hooks.  ;D

I fished Middle lake for the first time yesterday
Thought it would fish better then we did. But I do think there's a big weed kill going on
Brown weeds and the water was all teal colored.
Plus It's a very tight fit for X-cab truck with a 8' bed and a 20' boat

I'd pick another lake and deal with the Tuna boat traffic

I like deep places real close to docks with small amounts of shallow water during high traffic hours. The right ones can slide up and ambush the gills off the posts and slide back out.

Got Fish??

Most all of the lakes around Kalkaska have a quiet time from 7pm to 11am next  the next day. Makes it nice for fishermen and pontoons. As said earlier in the post. When 11am comes, the madness begins
