I'm interested in fishing the up and coming Detroit Open June 23, but I have no idea where St. Jean's or Tri-Centinal Park is. Would someone be so kind as to tell me where they are. I'm not sure about Langer, but I'm lost.

Are you saying you want to fish this tournament with me?  ;D

Go to the darkest part of Detroit, and you're there!

I just checked with the wife, we have a wedding to go to that day, but I think I can fit both in. I will let you know.

We just have to catch our limit early so you can make the wedding. Or have them pospone it for a day. Sure do wish they had a spell check on this site. After reading half my post I feel stupid.

I'm still having technical difficulties coming up with a spell checker my host will use that works with this forum... I figure it gives you a good excuse for possible spelling issues...

St. Jeans is a City of Detroit (I think) boat ramp on the Detroit River on the US shore facing Belle Isle an 1/8th of a mile down the channel. It is near Connor St (comes off of I-94). The ramp is sort of at the end of St. Jean St.

Tri-Centennial State Park is the first new state park in a while, and the only state park inside an urban setting. It has a large boat harbor in downtown Detroit. Address:
Tri-Centennial State Park
1900 Atwater Street
Detroit, MI 48226

Big lighthouse replica at the entrance to the harbor. I believe it is at Chene Park just before you get to the RenCen.

Just a warning to the wedding crasher, the tourny is 8am-4pm and a trailered weigh in starting at 5pm.

It will probably be late when you leave, but if you weren't to happy about going to the wedding, you can always plead ignorance.  I won't tell on you!

I don't know about Tri-Centenial, but I wouldn't launch at St. Jean.  There's a lot of theft and problems with vehicles being broken into.  I just heard of a guy who came in a week or 2 ago to find his tow vehicle up on blocks.  Not worth the risk.  Plus it's a very steep ramp.  The docks have no poles either making it even more difficult.  Wouldn't recommend this launch to anyone.  If you do go, only do so during daylight hours.

Revtro - I've been told they have bulldozed the area around it and completely changed it recently? I thought that was to include ramp improvements too? Have not seen it myself, but apparently too, for this event, we are expecting a lot of involvement - lots of people around, and good security.

Outside of the event... I probably still won't launch there until they wall it off and put in full-time, bonded security/attendants. It sure would be nice to have a good ramp that anyone could use in the area.

That's great news.  That area really needs to be cleaned up.  Way too many vacant building which always spell trouble.  It would be awesome to be able to consider that a good safe place to launch again especially with the price of gas being what it is.  Driving downlake to the river just isn't affordable anymore.

If anyone gets down there, give us a report on the conditions of the ramp and lot.  Yes, guards would sure be great.  Wish they would go ahead and do that.
