Can you believe it?  St. Clair is only a week away.  We have to work out the details for launch and pairings.  Since gas is so expensive, I would like to suggest we launch out of the Cuttoff at Ballard and Jefferson.  That way guys running South won't have such a long run to make.  But it's up to all you guys.

HOWEVER, I have not launched Harley on a Saturday lately.  Anyone know if that ramp is less busy than the Ballard one?  Here's why:

The past 2 Saturdays, the ramps have been backed up by 6am.  Last Saturday, I arrived at the Ballard launch at 5:45 and was only the 3rd boat in line.  Within 5 minutes there was a line out to Jefferson.  Will Harley Ensign be any better?  Someone who knows, please advise.

I'd suggest we meet at 5:30 at the ramp unless someone says Harley isn't bad around 6am.  I know... questions, questions.  Let's help get this figured out guys.  Next Saturday will be here before you know it.

Lastly, who's coming?

Im not in your club so my oppinion doesnt matter much but I would suggest harley becouse it has more lanes and more parking and doesnt have all the weeds that get all over your trailer and plug up water intakes.
The ABA used clinton cut a couple weeks ago and it was a zoo with the inexperienced weekend boaters clogging up the ramps and docks then they went onto lscn.net and complained that the bass guys were rude and it realy was the other way around ::)

Thanks Skip, I really appreciate the input.  You're right about the Cutoff.  Lots of amateurs for sure.  Yikes!

BTW - you are welcome to fish with us that day if you're available.  The more the merrier.  Thanks again!

Tom-

When we went over to LSC last Monday, the cutoff ramp was full.  I could not even put in there.  I went up to Harley and it was no problem.  If we can all get there early and get in the water, the cutoff ramp is nice.

Not sure I will be there or not, i plan on it right now but my schedule has been crazy.

You can count me and my dad in as a Boater/Non boater match up.

I like the fact that the cut-off launch is so close to the mile roads, but think that Harely Ensign is a much more accomidating launch. Just my $.02.  Looking forward to getting back out there again.

Tom:

count me in as a boater.   The only issue I have is I have a sales meeting in Chi-town until FRi at 5:00.  No telling how long the drive back is gonna be - guessing 6-7 hours with traffic, so I should be ok barrring any unforseen problems getting back.  i prefer using the bigger harley launch.  I have an hour plus drive to get to ballard by 5:30, but can do ti if thats what everyone prefers.

Count me in as a boater. Don't mind which ramp, I'm partial to Selfridge, it has not been busy at all the last couple weekends. The only thing I hate about Harley is being anywhere near the mouth of the clinton river on a Saturday afternoon.

I have to work one Saturday a year, and this is the one.  I won't be able to make it either.

I hate missing the opportunity to do Clair, but I can't go.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Hey guys,
It seems like everyone has no preference for the ramp or prefer Harley.  From all accounts Harley will be much better than the cutoff, so I vote for that.  I like the Selfridge launch too, but with gas prices what they are, perhaps saving the 7 miles of extra boating to get down to the Mile Roads and back would be a good idea.

So if there are no objections, can we say Harley?  6am Saturday.

SO its 6 am at Harley Ensign. Count me in as a non-boater. Mike Moran is bringing a non-baoter as well, both are interested in our club !!!

I want to request we meet around 10 am somewhere, maybe at the front of Harley Ensign for a fish download and swap non-boaters   ??? I love the format we have and hope to continue. Anyone else ?
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

SethV

Still not sure if I will be there, but it is looking good.

I don't know about meeting back at Harley mid-day.  Depends how far away I am.  I want to check out some stuff in the St Clair river and some stuff in the Detroit river.  Mile roads are great for numbers, but I really need to figgure out what it takes for the big bags in the tournaments.  14 lb mile road bags just won't do.

I suppose fishing Canada in a club sanctioned event is a "no no"?

Seth

Revtro

Maybe we can play it by ear when we see where guys are gonna be fishing before we decide on meeting back up.  I do like swapping out nonboaters in the middle of the day tho.  We did that last year a few times and it was fun.  It might be though on St. Clair because of how far we may be from each other.  Depends...

As long as Canada is open and you have a Canadian license, it's up to the team where they want to fish.  Canada will be closed still for this event though I think.  I believe it isn't open until the last Saturday in June.  So as a club we can't sanction fishing in closed waters.

Looks like i'm not going to be able to fish this one  :(  Really wanted to come down to St. Clair again too! Oh well, I'll be fishing somewhere at least  ::) Have fun and be safe out there

Ontario is closed until the last Saturday in June.  >:( >:( >:(
I'm 75% sure I can make it as a boater. Since I have never been on that lake before would it be O.K. for me to follow somebody else around?
Also where is the Harley launch exactly?
- Chris

Revtro

You can follow any of us around.  I can hook you up with lots of GPS coords that day too to help you out.  If I have a chance I'll write some stuff down and email it to ya to get you going.

Harley Ensign is located at the end of South River Road.  Take 16 Mile (Metro Parkway) East until you get to Jefferson which is at the entrance to Metro Beach.  Turn left and go 1 mile until you come to a "T".  Turn right onto South River Road and take it until it ends.  It ends at the ramp.
