This year I am resolute to learn swim suspended and crank baits better. What about you ?

Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

Manxfishing

I'd guess it's the same as last year
Would like to throw crank baits better and fish a jig more
And fish more top water

Hoping for the best

djkimmel

Go fishing more period and enjoy throwing whatever I feel like! Definitely will include the Deposit Swim Jig from Kustom Kicker Jigs! That was HOT for me last fall!

Same as last year. Learn how to fish a jig.

Rick,
I'm hoping that's it's a better year for you and the boat
A little more fishing and less repairs

YpsiBass

Starting the year with repairs though!  It's not getting me down though.  This is a valuable learning experience.  I just want gas prices to stay low.

bob o

more LSC got to hit some slobs with a spybait

Slipkey

I'd like to play around with spybaits and I suppose I should finally learn to fish a swimbait, seeing as how I keep buying the dang things and never throw them.  :-\'  My big "todo" is getting back to some basics that I haven't done much of since I moved to Michigan 12 years ago: Flippin', Pitchin' and fishing docks.

Got Fish??

Cover more water and wash more lures than I did last year.

Hollada

Crankbaits.  Need to figure em out or stop buying the purdy things :-)

Those are all good goals! Good luck!

I recommend you follow through on this! From a diehard cranker!

I would also like to fish the spybait more and also the U-rig. I bought a Cumara/Stradic combo last year for dropshotting and didn't do that enough either. I say this every year, but this April, before the opener and assuming the ice is off, I am going to spend a few days with no fishing gear on the boat so I can learn my electronics better. I repeat, just ME and my HUMMINBIRD!!!  I look forward to fishing tourneys with my brother in NE Michigan again, and I plan on spending more time on the lakes in my own backyard, like Spring Lake, Mona, & Muskegon. I got my daughter a GoPro for Christmas, so I'm looking forward to getting some great fishing video. I can't wait for the 2015 season to start!

Dan - always open to lessons from diehard crankers!

6 lb Smallmouth

#1 Go more often- last year was understandable with moving and having a baby.  This year I should have a lot more time.

#2 Fish Lake Michigan in NW Indiana.  I'll drive 5 hours to Sturgeon Bay or GTB but I don't fish Lake Michigan which is 30 minutes from me.  I have to get away from the inland lakes I fish and fish the big lake whenever the conditions are favorable.

#3 I started using some 4" swimbaits on chatterbaits last year and I had much better results.  So I want to experiment with more swimbaits especially on swimjigs.

#4 Learn how to punch mats.  Never done till last summer.  Caught a walleye and a pike the day I did it last summer but I know there are some big largemouth under those weeds.

#5 Get a new boat, (new to me) at the end of next season.  Tuffy X-190, Pantera, Z118, or a 618 are the front runners.  Need to see each of these up close this year.

Some good items. Especially #3. One of those 'secrets of the pros' kind of things... :)

Find Frank Benning - he is a master of flippin and pitching docks, and is out twice a week. He's also kinda of a great guy too !

That, my friend, I one heck of a to do list. You will love your  drop shotting, it's a big water staple for more than just small mouth.
