Lake Erie isnt so scary!

So the NBAA River Festival tourney on Saturday was my very first time on Erie.  I gotta say.. Erie is not as scary as you guys make it out to be!!  Just because I shattered my lift assist on the trolling motor to a rogue wave and went air borne more times than I can count!!  It really wasnt that bad...

All I hear is you crusty old dogs talking about being sore for days and complaining about long runs and bone crunching rides....  what a bunch of wimps!!!

And then I woke up this morning and could not get out of bed...

I only have one question... which will wear off first?  The pain or the look of satisfaction and "I hope it hurts bad" look on my wife's face?

The scary part is that Erie was calm on Saturday!   :o

The pain usally goes away before "the look" does....

djkimmel

Best thing to do is get right back out there and bang away again...

and again...

and again...

eventually you don't even feel the pain anymore (do it completely right and you won't be able to really see if the look is there for sure or not anyway).

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Advil and Excedrin are the ticket..  eat them like candy.  my partner saturday has been out on st-clair a lot but never in a bass boat.  when we were sitting there i was checking everything and strapping the trolling motor down with 2 straps.  he said it didn't look that rough.  we were boat 125 ( last one ).  when we took off there were 3 footers from all the other boats.  i told him he would be really sore the next day..
today i will be checking all my bolts, screws and wiring to see what is loose.  fishing lake orion tonight so i am sure it will be rougher than St-Clair

the only place you will find PITTY from your wife is in the dictionary >:(. Just wait till you go to Pelee on a calm morning, the wind changes and kicks the waves to 6-7 footers.  You won't be sore, just completely exhausted from the loooooooooooooooong ride back to a safe harbor.

So true REEL_MAN!  I thought maybe it was only me.  It always seem to switch to the West or East, even when the forecast calls for winds from the North or South?   By the time I decide to come back from Pelee, the winds are always blowing 15-20 mph...  >:(

Dan

I've got the solution for problems with wind on Erie. Invest in wind farm technology and then when you're on those long windy rides you can think about making money. Might sooth the back some.

I was with a guy 2 years ago from Wisconsin in an Everstart out of Detroit River that fishes Lake Michigan regularly. We chased a thunderstorm across Erie to the Hen. He kept talking about trying to ride the waves like he does on Lake Michigan, problem is they come from about 7 or 8 different directions. I'm usually pretty beat up for a solid week after back to back days of making that run.

hey B - I have lasting crik in my neck from that day .. Where's my lawyer !!!

Serious that was a good day - Wished we stroked the 5 lb hogs but it wasnt meant to be. you did good, I'd go out there with you again.

Heard it is good advise to have a mouthgaurd and one of those hunting cushions to keep your back from getting too old. Think I'll invest.

PS: Who loves the miracle mile ? WOW ............
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan
