With only about 24 hours until my son was to leave for Germany on a month long trip we arrive at Lake Orion for the Monday night tourney.  Having never fished there we decided to just go fishing.  We idled to the first point and get started.  At about 6:10 I catch a 3.5 pound bass.  Steve nets it and as I am putting it in the live well he slips,  hits his knee on the steering wheel and dislocates his knee cap.  There was a lady working in her garden and heard us and came out on her dock with a phone.  We called 911 and I told them I would meet them at the launch.  I put ice on his knee and luckily the cap popped back in to place.  The EMS techs checked him and decided I should take him to Urgent care.   They X-rayed  and did some checks and said he was fine.  The story has a happy ending as he was able to make the trip and is with his family in Germany today.  The bass was returned to the lake to be caught another day.

We would like to thank the Paul Cowen family and all the NBAA Monday night crew for there thoughts and prayers.

The Smith family.
