Okay... been a while, I know. I've got a prize or two... but the old contest noggin is not working right now. Anyone have a good contest idea that is fair and works for a forum?? PM or email to me and I'll see if one works out to give away a prize or two.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Maybe....who could submit the best fishing picture (with the GLB member in the photograph for authenticity purposes) and have a poll to see who wins...
That way we could put some faces with the names.

Dan, see if anyone can identify this fish

djkimmel

Weird coincidence!!! I was just watching a show I won't mention yet - the host was catching a relative of that very fish. It was awesome!!!

Anyone got a guess? I might be able to dig out something from the prize vault for the first one who gets it right...

African Tiger Fish?

If you'd recently seen a picture of a Tiger Fish... no comparison. We're talking fang envy!!!

That's a very good idea too. Let me see if I can put something together.

For now, although I enjoyed Durand Dan's tigerfish guess, I'm going to award a special prize to Team houston for getting closest to the right fish. All-American Team houston guessed dogtooth snapper - right type of fish, wrong sub-species, but close enought to win a KaRu Vibraspin Size 2 black and blue - GUARANTEED to catch many, many bass this season!!!

Congratulations Team houston!! How do you want to get it? At the DK open?

The actual fish is a less common, usually deep snapper called a Cubera - an abnormally long variety of snapper:

Here is the dogtooth or dog snapper info:
