What would be the best or most durable reel to use for flipping and pitching with braid? Right now I'm using a Quantum Accurist on my heavy action flipping stick. How are the newer Abu Garcia reels for this technique?

Thanks;
Doug

Don't know about the Abu, but I've used a Shimano Castaic SF for a few years and it's sweet.  If I don't have my Castaic with me, a Shimano Curado (Green) 100 fills in nicely.

I didn't know how much more stress braid would put on my reel than 20lb. floro. I like to fish the heavy weeds in East Harbor State Park but the weeds just ball up on the line when I get one that I can't horse out right away.

I love my Revo sx-HS's for flippin and pitchin. Nice small reels.  All three flippin sticks have em.  the extra speed helps get the bait back quick in between.  They also have more drag power which is nice with braid, but you will break rods if not careful.

I use a Shimano Curado B (Green) for most of my pitching applications.  I pitch with 17 to 20 lb fluoro and 50 to 65 lb Power Pro braid.  I have had no problems with the Curado not holding up.  It works great.

I just bought a new Revo but I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I plan on using it for pitching.  I am exciting about the high speed gears when it comes to faster retrieve between pitches or catching up with charging fish.

According to tackletour.com the Revo has 24 lbs of drag pressure when cranked down tight.  This leads me to believe that it is made for heavy lines or braids.

But, I think any quality reel will work for this application.

Thanks for all your help guy's. When you say the green Curado, are you talking about the old  curado before the upgrade? I have one and love it. Been using it for a couple years. May have to just switch reels on my stick.
