I think this Monroe County Iowa 209 pound gross whitetail deer crossbred with an elk somehow!!! (I don't have a confirmed story on this, but what a monster!!! I'll try to run it down to confirm the story and source of pictures - in case there's a copyright issue.)  :o

Looks a little like a photoshop job to me.   :-\'  No fingers in front of the antlers or head at any spot??  How many of you could hold a deer of that magnitudes head up off the ground like that without so much as straining to hold on???  Not me, that's for sure.  I had to hold tight to keep my little 9 points head up for pictures.  Something is fishy here.

Looks like a cow elk with mule deer/elk mix antlers bolted on!! I don't know if it is real or not, but it could be legit...

Not only do I live in Iowa but I also work in an Archery Pro Shop. I would have heard of this one. There has been a few fakes going around this year just like every year.

skeeterman190

Ok im not gonna jump to any conclusions here thats a big buck.. now is it legit or not?? 209 inches is believable.to 1javs report on holdin the head look at the first pic guys got his knee behind the head. but that brings my fishy question, look at the second pic hes not wearing the same clothes.(no bibs in the second one) same woods change your clothes not sure??? if its legit thats awesome. if not what a shame-skeeterman-oh yeah ps thats one small guy or one HUGE deer.

I think 1jav is on to something with the lifting of the head. At least he better hope so or he'll whoop ya with that kind of super human strength ;)

djkimmel

If he REALLY bagged a whitetail that huge AND has super human strength... we might want to be more kind to him???

The deer is the real deal. I have friends the we hunt with in Iowa that know the lucky hunter. If I shot a deer that big, you can bet that I would have NO problem holding his head up for a few photo's. For more on this deer and a few other gaints you can go to iowadeer.com for the stories. This deer was taken about 25 miles from the area we hunt, and I will just say that the deer are big. We have taken 5 deer in the last few years that are in the 140's or better and see book bucks every year.
