So what is the gas price where you are right now and where do you think they will peak at this year.

I am in Howell and right now the cheapest is $3.37 at Sunoco. I hear it will hit $4.00 before easter and $4.50 by mid summer.
Remember you don't quit fishing when you get old, you get old when you quit fishing

dashaver63

$3.45 almost everywhere in NW Ohio. I heard oil hit $108.00 a barrel. Hopefully the next administration will get things headed back in the right direction. Those tax tax rebate checks will sure help to stimulate the economy, if your an oil compnay.

I drive a diesel and have been paying $3.99.9 to $4.09.9 for a week now  >:(
I bought the dang thing 5 years ago becouse diesel was always cheaper  ???
Go Big or Go Home!

dartag

was sitting in milford on my way home from work and looked at the speedway and it was 3.37 for Reg and 4.00 for diesel.  guess 4.00 is not far away.  going to be an expensive summer.

I'm thinking that storing my boat with a full tank was a good idea. I can siphon it out to fill my truck!! ;D

I am waiting for a hybrid outboard... ;D..I will definetly be making some adjustments to my fishing schedule if gas prices don't settle down...I am glad I work and live within 20 miles of LSC and the SCR.

Skulley

Filled my truck for $3.17 a gallon this morning.  This afternoon put $40 in the van at $3.31.  This is getting ridiculous.   >:(

i did the same thing, only i bought mine last august.... when diesel was 2.80. i put in less than a half tank yesterday for 40$... that'll get me about 2 trips to work and back. Looks like i'm driving my wifes lime green vw bug for a while.... i can get a weeks worth of commuting in 10 gallons of gas from that at least.

Its been ridiculous for a number of years already. Consumption has gone down, more plastic (oil) is recycled more than ever, people are avoiding driving when possible and it still goes up. Does anyone else felt like they're bent over a table and ...

ummmm...no...but it feels like a slap in the face :/
"dont stop keep fishing"

fear no fish

I bought my first diesel pickup about 4 years ago. Thought I would make up the difference in the cost of the engine over the life of the truck in fuel savings. Boy was I wrong! My first tank of fuel was $1.49 per gallon. Now it is nearing $4.00. Do you see anything wrong with this picture? I know I shouldn't be upset with the attendant at the gas station, but I have a real hard time being polite to them when I feel like I am being taken advantage of by their employers. I just can't believe that the cost has more than doubled in 4 years.

you must be taking Ford Ranger Pick-up.  my Ranger has a 45 gallon tank.  glad it is full now in storage.  might be a good year to fish Kent with the electric motor.  call it a hybrid boat and maybe get a tax break.

I was a Bush fan before, but this is ridiculous.  No kind of breaks for us, and now they are considering raising the taxes on oil companies!!!  Who do you think is going to pay that tax!!  Not them, that's for sure.

OK Ya'll you aint gunna believe this but check it out. I have a good friend who works 8 months at a time in Saudi Arabia. Over there they have all the oil they will ever need. They change their oil in their cars once a month and the filter. They get 750,000 to over a million miles on their car engines.
Now for the klingker. They have been driving a lot of their motorcycles on hydrogen bottles screwed in under the seats for several years now. Seems that hydrogen is the same as propane with the injectors and all. Change the engin over to propane and hydrogen works the same. Just keep tra ding out the small empty tanks for full ones and off they go. He has been working on his own hydrogen generator to run his home and cars. He keeps having a problem with the regulator valve after he seperates the hydrogen and oxygen. He is making to much hydrogen for his point of use need.
Just letting everyone know the technology is out there right now if you want to invest in it.
Lots to think about.....Why havent any of the candidates started talking about this or what they will do about it. OOPs thats politics....sorry about that. IS IT ICE OUT YET?

I don't have time right now to type a long answer, but this is BS.  Sorry, not true on both accounts.

Changing your oil more often will not extend the life of the engine, as long as the oil is still in good condition and clean.  In super dusty conditions, you may be required to change it more often, but changing it often just for the fun of it is a waste of time.

The Hydrogen thing is even more silly.  You don't just "screw in" a bottle of H2 like propane.  Propane tanks have a max pressure of 325 psi (NFPA code) and H2 can run well over 10,000 psi.  Also, the fuel range you would get out of a small bottle of H2 is so tiny that you could not drive very far.  I can give you numbers if you like, but trust me (and my patents on H2 technology) - they, nor anyone else is using H2 for comercial use right now.

H2 reforming is not complicated technology.  When you run a PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell in reverse (put in water and electricty) you get H2 and O2 out.  Problem becomes in H2 storage and the ecconomics.  Can't beat the 2nd law of thermo.  It takes you more energy to reform and package the H2 than you will get out of it when you consume the H2.  Small scale reformers are just not practical.  I won't even get into the cost and duability issues....

Also, H2 is NOT the same on injectors as Propane (even at equal pressures).  H2 tends to cause metals to become brittle - even SS.  It is possible, but it is not the same as propane.

Am I mistaken? Aren't there oil companies that do not import their oil? I thought companies like BP and Marathon were mostly self reliant, maybe importing a small fraction of their use. If these other companies don't have to pay that $108.00+ per barrel oil prices, then why do they raise their gas prices as if they do? (STUPID QUESTION)

Revtro

WEEEE!  I was wondering when our yearly gas prices conversation was gonna start.   ;D ;D ;D  (Just jokin' fellas)

But seriously, I hate to see this become a political discussion, but if anyone's been watching the news, Bush went and pleaded with OPEC to increase oil production and they said NO.  Maybe it's time to push for oil independence and start blaming OPEC for being unwilling to increase production.
