Small ones and lots of them, this is what I'm looking for this Saturday. I'm taking my wife and daughter out this weekend. This being my wife's first time fishing with me and for sure the first time on St. Clair. I really need to be on some fish..... Maybe a new or newer boat could hinge on this trip...lol    Wish me luck I need as much as i can get. this is not a trip to ZERO at. :o because if I do I can hear it now... you paid how much for gas and how many did we catch...lol I'm sure that more than myself has heard that phrase....

Ill report back Sunday.

Hi Don - We were at the Firecracker Tuesday and so long as you stayed on the flats 12 - 13 ft, and threw a wad a gum at em we picked up small ones. 1 - 2.5 lb.  Like 8 an hour ? tubes, drop shot, dark gren and purples worked. Stay within 10 yd of the marker, nothing edge of channel.

get em !!
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

Thanks for the info Mike, Now I just need to figure out where the firecracker is at...  ::) I was just going to hit the south shore or move over to the mile roads.. to pick up some small fish. I would not even mind if we caught perch... If she were to tie into a big muskie that would be awesome as well ....

Don, the South Shore is a great place for numbers and size, especially if the water quality is fairly good. Another great place for numbers is right across the mouth of the river to the Delphine flats. This is the area between Windmill Point and the Delphine Channel. I would concentrate on areas where you find weeds and rock (which is almost everywhere on the flat), in the 3' to 6' range. You will usually get into huge numbers of 1.5 to 2.0 lb. class fish.

Good luck!

Eric

Don't forget the canals by Metro or MacRay for largeheads if the weather won't let you go down there, or the smallies aren't cooperating.

The firecracker is up by the St. Clair River.  It marks the entrance to the south channel and is on the south side of the channel.  It is red and white and looks like a.....you guessed it.....a firecracker.  Historically it has been a good place to catch fish.  Be careful around that area because you can drift into Indian Territory at which point you would need a Walpole License.

I was on the south shore two weeks ago and did pretty good.  Caught lots of 2s and 3s with an 4 or 5 every now and then.  Not as good as the last time I saw you out there with your buddy.  Good Luck Saturday.

I am going to Greenfield Village Saturday to watch the Old Time Baseball Tournament.
