I've been contacted by a Deborah Butler who works with CIEE foreign exchange students. She's looking for placement of a 16-year-old student in the Traverse City or Lansing area in Michigan.

Ben is a fishing enthusiast from Germany who enjoys the outdoors. I'm getting the work out thinking someone might know a family willing to host Ben for the 2024-25 school year and help him pursue his interest in fishing after school hours.

A Little More About Ben
Ben loves riding his motorcycle back home in Germany to meet up with friends. He has a great sense of humor, so I'm sure he'll be meeting up with American friends quickly after arriving here. He enjoys family activities and would love to be part of an American family for the school year.

In Germany, Ben lives with his father, Andreas, his mother, Leni, and his 11-year-old sister, Silke. The family fishes, wakeboards, swims, do chores together and spends quality time with each other. Ben says: "I hope that my host family is kind and that I will settle in there quickly. That we would     experience many great things together and that my host family would introduce me to their culture and everyday American life."

More Information About Hosting an Exchange Student
Besides opening their hearts and homes to exchange students, host families provide three meals a day, provide a bedroom and bathroom (which can be shared), and make lifelong connections with the student. Exchange students come with their own health insurance and spending money. They speak strong English and are interviewed and vetted for success in the program.

Pass the work around if you think you know someone who might be interested in helping Ben. I remember being friends with several exchange students back in the day, including Dieter from Germany. It was always a great learning experience. Contact me if you are interested or know someone else who might be.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
