I just remembered the Goby Crankbait you showed me @ Kent, the one w/the black dot was awesome. I need a couple in my box!

It is a super secret paint job.  I don't know if I should...lol.  I'll check around tonight and see if I have any pics of the most recent one.

Here's a few for you Duane (sorry for the quality, the photos were a rush job):

Here's a pic for comparison.  I didn't go with all of the orange tones like in the photo, but more creams and browns.  I shot some red and chartruese on the belly to give it a little more flash.  The chartruese really gives the bait a yellow look in the pic (although it doesn't really look that yellow in person).

The paint job looks really good but I thought gobys look alot darker when sitting in the bottom of the lake around rocks and such. My understanding was that they lighten up some when brought to the surface. Is this not true?

I have all sorts of photos of gobys, and they are all different.  Some are really dark, some are lighter.  I paid a lot of attention to the underwater footage Kim Stricker took, and I don't remember seeing one goby that was really dark.  They all blended in to the sandy bottom.  I found the above photo a couple months ago, and really liked the patterns on the gobys, so I used that one for this bait.

Nice!

I think most are very light in color, the males do turn black when they spawn (However I have yet to see one in person).

JC shoot me a quote for painting up a couple of DT's
