Got out Monday, blue bird, 87 degrees, water 65 degrees and high after all the rain. 1 - 2 ft and less than 5 knots. Nothing to help us drift so we looked deep 12  - 18 along the south channel among the rocks. Got zip

Went next to areas on the lake where water was moving fast around eddies etc. (ie coming out of the channels) and when the fish turned on, we went 3 - 4.5 and 5.5 lb fish in 3 casts !! Drop shot goby nears rocks and eddies.

Finished up with 1.5 - 2 lbrs on 10 mile in 10 ft on tubes. All in all it was a nice day, but Id say - during this tough post spawn transition - to find medium deep areas with rock that break hard around structure and hit every side, current side, back of eddy etc ..... Hope that helps y'all this week until Canada opens and we raid the South shore and bays !!  ;D  ;D
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

Nice!

As tough as it is out there right now that is very impressive!

Here is a report from Saturday (6/20/09 NBAA Detroit River Open) Fished from 6' to 16.5' all around 9 Mile -11 Mile area.Started in 6' and lost a decent fish on a lipless crank (long cast + slow ratio reel + smallmouth = missed opportunity) on to one of our better spots which produced decent quality came in 8.5' of water on specific spots as we were able to pull a couple of good smallies 3 3/4lb and then a 41/4 lb. From then on it was a struggle to get on quality bites as we ended up weighing in 3 dinks with those two for 41st place w/ 12.99 lbs :-[. We caught fish after fish that were all about 1 3/4lbs not good... Hopefully it gets better soon as summer heats up!

Thanks for the reports! Going to head out there tomorrow.  Will post our results.  Might head up near the channels, never really fished there much.  Hope for the best!

Hey Guys,

I was out on St. Clair these past two days and it was a struggle from start to finish to find any quality bites of fish. I checked a few spots that usually turn on in late June with no luck hopefully the fishing starts picking back up as they transfer into there summer pattern. Dragging tubes was the ticket for me both days but it was Dink after Dink wheres the pigs guys.

Hope all is well with everybody,

Glad we were not the only ones!!! We managed a load of little guys today, no uality fish at all.  We covered alot of water too.  Hopefully things get turned around soon.............

You know everyone keeps saying that it's the time of the year (I'm guilty too).. but we did lose a lot of quality fish to the "fish kill"

I hope it turns around soon and we start to find the quality again.

I agree that the fish kill did not help.  There is no way to argue that it could have.  Dead fish smell funny, fight like shyte, and dont stay hooked up very well ;)!!  Hopefully this might help the remaining population in the end.  Might be less competion for the bait that is available to the fish.  We shall see.  Will be going out again on the weekend, and will post results.

Good point and good luck let us know how you do...
